Chasing virtue signagling ambitions and those are determineng strategies which are not business fundimentals to driving demand. Industry wucummed to ESG pressures will loose the true focus of quality healthcare and many will fail.
Medtronic is a woke shithole and their DEI obsession is destroying the compnay. Yes it hurts company performance to hire and promote based on genitalia and race.
Tom Gardner is a micro-manager who has no idea how to sell. He is non-resourceful and provides zero affirmation to any positive events. He is self engrossed and rides others coattails. Please stay away from his shtick.
Functions and special project teams not sharing information. All are being held to corporate goals but no early visibility to strategies or tactics of special project teams. No clear opportunity or path to offer input.
Culture awful
Inappropriate senior leadership
I should not have to tell senior managers the difference between right and wrong
Convoluted direction and extreme micro management
HealthHub is out of whack! They sell, at a prohibitive price, an old TV product to patients that need support to stay sane while they are stuck at the hospital or LTC... They sell it at hospitals as a new future-proof solution to manage software / EHR at the bedside... the equipment is old Chinese tablet rebranded with a proprietary Linux OS... yeah try to do something with it... They fired the sales team and the developer a month ago... so good luck with new software and security patch! I'm definitely looking around for a new job, like most of my colleagues! Management is weak, the worst COO ever, and the new president is from another generation... After seeing the revenues during a meeting, and all the people that were building the future of the company that they let go... I think they are either selling the company "again" or going to bankruptcy and try to cash as much money as possible before...
No autonomy, foolish management focusing on ESG which hurts shareholders, micromanagement, tracking our company vehicles, raises below inflation two years in a row, wasteful focus on diversity instead of merit.
Horrible R&D leadership. Petty, backstabbing, passive aggressive and majorly insecure. Only want to hear their own ideas. No integrity - lie to your face, words don’t matter. There is a reason AbbVie cannot and will not organically grow.
Leadership either doesn’t know or doesn’t care about what the reps truly need. They like to say all the right things but, in the end, do not take REAL action to make an impact on the field. They are more concerned with hitting metrics and checking boxes than adapting to current conditions/needs. Because just about everyone’s job relies on the sales rep, anyone who isn’t has to insert themselves into our day. They don’t care about your time, the distractions and stress they cause that really serve no value (CCs/meetings/field rides, etc) all while still expecting you to hit x, y, z call plan attainment. Leadership wants everyone to believe they don’t micromanage..but they do, and they are inflexible and unforgiving about it. Just wish they would get a clue and leave us alone out here. On the plus side of Abbvie, no one should complain about pay, as they pay you well, most of the products are decent, and there are enough people (peers) I have come across in my many years who are kind and helpful.
The company I work for has an extremely toxic culture. Success is measured by how much ass you can kiss. The people in leadership positions are not subject to the same rules as everyone else and do not lead by example. The head of research is an absolute tyrant who protects his buddies. Its classic cronyism.
