Zoll Lifecor

Worst career decision I ever made. I came in and did reasonably well and made money my first year, but 2nd year is tough and I am not meeting goal. Management has made it clear that I will meet the expected growth or else! I heard that this typically happens the second year when I was interviewing, but was told that new management had made changes to fix the turnover problems of the past. I am not seeing that at all.

if you dont mind working for a company that will use you like a urinal. The management is horrible-they are the same people who enjoyed pulled wings off flies as kids. As your quota increases every two weeks you will start feeling like your running barefoot on glass. They will hold you accountable for paperwork created inhouse, by a system where expediency trumps efficiency. From the top-down they do not value people and you are a commodity which will be used and then discarded for the next desparate displaced sales professional who is ready to get sodomized by management. This company is a blood stain on your resume. Call 5 recruiters and ask them about this company. They will have 25 resumes sitting on their desk from people desperate to get out. It has one of the highest attrition rates in medical sales. Stay Away!!!!

hmmm. They have the turn-over under control and most people are still at goal their 2nd year. I don't think anyone wants to leave because this is such a great product to sell and of course growing 60% every year. HAHA

Yup. I'm hearing that the turnover is now "under control".
And that Japanese company that bought them for some ridiculous sum is now pouring money into the lifevest. So this is one of the many "expansion" territories.

I wasn't born yesterday.

I also need a job. Coming from 5 years in the OR. Any insight into the day in the life of a Zoll rep would be greatly appreciated. Was this acquisition a disaster or have things gotten better?

Is 150k reasonable for first year? That's what they're saying. I would really enjoy a new callpoint. I don't have local EP/Cardio contacts but that's not been an issue so far in the interview process.

Again, thanks for your thoughts.

I'm just curious, strickly speaking what is Zoll's TM target comision? I don't care about their salary, just comision. Everyone says 150 but is that comision and salary or comision only?

The CEO of this company sent out an Edict. Dilute the sales territories. The numbers they are quoting are for the original reps who's territories were much larger. In addition they favor brain dead pharma reps. These guys actually think that detailing docs pharma style would be more successful than a device sales approach.

Their recruiter is an inexperienced dummy. He actually tells potential hires that the company considers device rep experience "IFFY" !!

Stay far far away from these clowns. A temporary Job at best.

So basically with target commission and salary were looking at $225k. Is it easy to beat that? Other perks? Why did you say people will leave eventually?

Nope, compensation at target is 157K not 225K. As the poster earlier shared some reps will make 300, some 200 and some will struggle to make 80K. First year goals are set so you should make target at 157K. If you blow our your number maybe the 200-225K. If you blow out your number they will raise your quota significantly the second year and then you will need to grow 60% on top of the big quota raise. The 2nd year and subsequent years are very difficult to meet goals with the big quota increases every year. That's why this seems to be a 1 year gig and all leave eventually. Oh, and if you're not trending to make your number after a big quota raise be ready to be on a PIP.

Other than the 60% quota increase year over year, this sounds like a good gig

It does seem like a great gig.
The 'great'est part is that everyone in your tiny territory has heard about this thing ad-nauseum.
Good luck staying busy week after week calling on 8 cardiology practices and 3 hospitals.
It was hard to find productive calls years ago when reps covered entire states.

Listen, you would be foolish to accept a position from these people. They call the openings expansion, and it is not. Period. They consistently reduce the size of the territories and increase quotas. If they are telling you, you will make upwards of $200K, that is a bold face lie. They do have a select few veterns (with teams of SSR and full time PSRs) that are able to achieve that, however it is not realistic. Truthfully the newer reps are in the $100 - $150 range at very best and that completely depends on where your are located within the country. There is no communication with the field and the home office, as a matter if fact, the AC's are specificly told NOT to release information to the field. This company has grown too much too quickly and management can not keep up with it. Sooner that later AK will release them.

When will this company learn that pharma reps are not the answer. B2B, DME, Home Health, Capital Equip and Hospice YES, but pharma NO. My guess is the regional and national managers are former pharma. Thank The Lord, that I don't have ownership or stock in this company.

I am stunned with the posts on this board. I was trying to get in with this company, but realize this isn't the answer to my career path goals. I put all this work into creating a profile through Floodgate Medical, following up with the joke of recruiters they contract with and following the online job board. To see lack of results from the Lifevest, how can anyone in good conscience sell this?
