New Diabetes Sales Specialist positions?

The industry has changed completely. There are few direct hire positions left and those that are are not necessarily desirable from a career enhancement standpoint If you work hard and build a reputation for being a good worker that contributes you will find jobs. They may not be the golden handcuffs of old pharma but those days are over. Contract sales makes perfect business sense. If the CSO's are smart they will start increasing pay and benefits to recruit the best. It is "cheaper" to pay someone well as a one or two year hired gun than a permanent direct hire. The pharma companies dont want to lay people off--it looks bad so CSO's are a way around that. It is what you make of it.

You are trying to get a cso position? OMG. Anyone can get one. Trying? LMFAO.

only a person devoid of integrity and decency would post drivel like this. rather than deride other people for trying to find jobs to support themselves why don't you go do something productive like develop a conscience and a brain. you clearly are not up on current events, the state of the economy or the health are and pharmaceutical industry so I truly hope you keep your splendid job and don't have to stoop to working for a contract. we don't need you. as forrest gump said: "stupid is as stupid does."

How true this is. Contract jobs are a dime a dozen. Nothing you should even consider if you have any options at all. To have no options, then you need to look inside and see why you are where you are in life. It is tough, but reality is reality. It sucks to be at the bottom. That's life in America. Those at the top and those at the bottom. The bottom dwellers are always jealous of those at the top. And full of excuses. If you think of the bottom as impossible and not a option at any cost, you will never arrive there. You only can be as good as you strive to be. Strive to be a cso and you will be one. Make excuses that there are no jobs. Then there are no jobs for you. News flash....there are Jobs.

these are good jobs-I have made a career out of CSO employment-consider it good work and certainly not anything sub-standard or as you say at the "bottom." I only hope I can be so fortunate to land one of these assignments...

Exactly what is being said on so many threads. For some a cso job is good, for others it is a unimaginable thought.

If you think CSO positions are so terrible, why are you on here? Can we get back on track? This subject of this thread is suppose to be about the Diabetes Sales Specialist positions posted for inVentiv...

I just applied. Am I too late? I would think not if interviews aren't happening until the first week of January. I am a perfect fit for this position and I, for one, think a base of 75k, plus car and potential 25k bonus is pretty darn good.

Mature responses only, please. Thanks.

I think you are right! It sounds good to me too.
I think it depends on what area you are in as to whether it's too late to be considered. I know they have started phone screens in some areas, but not others yet. In what area of the country are you?

I applied a while back to two of these, in Texas. Have not heard anything. Did talk to someone who had an Amylin contact, who said they are interviewing DMs now, and rep interviews in Jan. Not sure if this is correct.

Anyone in the south had a phone interview yet or heard anything (from Stephanie Johnson specifically)? I am in TN and haven't heard a thing, even though I am very qualified. I have a friend who has her phone interview tomorrow. I am getting nervous that I am not even going to get a phone interview. I really thought I would.

Get use to it. This is Ventiv, bottom of the barrel. The recruiters here are incompetent, lazy liars. They will tell you anything and do next to nothing.

So are you implying that you are at the top? If so why are you trolling and posting here?

I'm in the midwest... previous inVentiv employee, worked for big pharma before that, and have diabetes experience. Am I too late?

I'm also from the Midwest and just applied for the job. I hope I'm not too late either. I've interviewed with Ventiv before. They take forever to respond sometimes! Recruiters are horrible at returning calls!

If the base is mid 70's with $25k in bonus, I'd say this is a great gig. I've worked big pharma and contract. CSO is less stress, sometimes less work (not always), not as professional (sometimes), pays less sometimes, pays more other times, management is good and bad for both. It really depends on the contract. CSO's on your resume will ruin your chances of getting back into big pharma. It won't totally knock you out, but you will be questioned about it many times. Sad, but true. The truth is, those high paying big pharma jobs are gone. Really. If you still have one...good for you. The CSO jobs now are the new pharma job reality. Everyone I just worked with on my last contract came from big pharma including the RSM who was a national sales director for big pharma.

I am happy for the job. I am happy that I am employable. I could care less whose name is on the paycheck if its at least a paycheck. I do my job well, make a great living and win the occasional award.

Happy Holidays to all of you out there. Good luck to all who are job hunting at this time of year!

Wow. Great post. I agree whole-heartedly.
