New Diabetes Sales Specialist positions?

We dont get 401k, jack ass. The bonus doesnt exist in reality. The car is a piece, the base is half of what the direct reps make. There are no pros to being cso. Only cons. It is the lowest of the lowest.

You really don't have a clue. I worked two contracts before getting into med device. Once with Quintiles and the last one with Inventiv. I had 401k at both, brand new impala at Quintiles and a Malibu with 3000 miles on it with Inventiv. The salary base is 72-75. That is only $5000 less that what an actual direct hire to Amylin makes. One of the major pros is it's a freaking job you moron. Contract isn't what it used to be where anyone could get these jobs. Most of the people being hired are displaced reps that were direct hires at another pharma company. The people that run around knocking cso's only prove one thing and that is they are ignorant and really now no clue what they are talking about.

These jobs are only for the desperate. No one in their right mind would flush their career down the toilet by taking a temp. contract job unless they were absolutely desperate. The problem is everyone knows and the chances of a good job in the future are gone. I tried for a year to get back on with a good position after taking a CSO position and I got nowhere. I am now selling ins. GREAT 401K, I just dont make enough to contribute. I ruined my chances at anyting good by taking contract. Dont let it happen to you. Happy Hanukkah.

Or maybe you were just bad at what you were doing. I have never had a problem getting interviews and other jobs after working for a cso. Quit blaming the cso for your inability to get another pharma job. You sound full of shit and managers can see through that. Enjoy selling insurancde.

Nothing posted so far is correct about this position. Spoke to the initial recruiter yesterday. She didn't know what the salary is yet or the bonus. Interviews in from 1/3 to1/27 maybe in NJ. Oh and the training dates are tentatively home study 2/6 - 2/14 and classroom 2/16-2/24. The dates seem strange because the home study ends during the week and the classroom begins on a Thursday and goes over the long President weekend. Anyone have any additional info post it.

everyone must do phone screens, even former Ventiv reps, and they are being conducted the last week of December, face-to-face interviews I have been told are what the post says above-in early January-no offers made until the new product is approved which is scheduled at the end of the month-January...initial phone screens are done by Ventiv recruiters and don't know who the face-to-face interviews are with...in the past Ventiv put forth only one candidate on other contracts but don't know about this one

I am in the mid-west and had my phone interview last week. I was told that I would hear something back about f2f interview around the beginning of the year. DM's are being hired now.

Well, I guess that may mean there is still hope if we have not heard anything yet. Starting to get a bad feeling, which is frustrating, considering my level of experience with cardiovascular and diabetes drugs. Launched and sold both Glucophage and Avandia, as well as selling multiple cardiovascular meds, including ACE Inhibitor, ARB, statin drug. Have not been in those market segments for several years, though. Hope that won't knock me out.

The recruiter you talked to may not know the bonus but the one I talked to said target bonus of $26000. Also following Inventiv vacation schedule but Amylin holiday schedule.

I had a phone screen last week.

How are the phone screens? Typical interview questions... Any situational STAR format questions?

I still haven't gotten a call, but hoping. Makes no sense... I'm beginning to wonder if I have "too much" experience. I'm still under 40, but close to that age. Did well on previous inVentiv contracts, but was in big pharma before that so it hasn't all been contract. It's very frustrating.

Pharma is the same no matter if you're contract or regular sales force. Pay is great for 20-30 mins of actual work a day. Unless you have a lunch then add 45 mins to an hour extra per day. Show up, leave samples and repeat. Both sit in waiting rooms and both waste time talking to co-workers, friends in between stops. Both are in the same industry with the same challenges, make it to the next pay check.

I just fail to see what's so bad about making $100,000/year, selling a new(i.e., patent protected) diabetes med, with company vehicle and full benefits. Actually, it sounds like it might actually be a better situation than the big pharma gig I recently got laid off from after almost 30 years. That job was about to put me in the grave anyway, with the obsessive micro-management and unbelievable administrative load. There are no other jobs around here where you can make that kind of money without a professional degree or certification.
