Demotivating Managers

So, are there 110 managers right now? And it will go down to 72 managers. So that is 38 managers OUT of a job.

i thought there were 110 also but Kip said yesterday that there were 90 something DMs currently...don't forget there are also 7 new energy DM jobs..there will probably be around 20 DMs replaced in the end

My math skills suck, but I'll try.... 14 Regionals reduced to 10 is ~30% reduction. DMs numbers are cloudy, so depends on where you get your numbers. Originally Kip said 110. 110 reduced to 72 is a 35% reduction. 90 DMs to 72 is a 20% reduction. If you take the original DM number of 110 DMs, reduced to 72 plus the 7 Energy DMs, that's 110 down to 79, which is still about a 30-35% reduction.

Kip threw out 600 as being the number for reps in the company. I think he is including the reps that aren't in the "pool"- Energy, TAs, etc. Either way, if you reduce 600 by a conservative 25%, that means 150 reps displaced. If you remove all the unaffected reps, that leaves about 420 reps and a 25% reduction would be 105 reps displaced. Either way, I think we are looking at ~100 reps being displaced, at a minimum.

wow. really? what if we were in Germany? Would this change anything? Ever notice why no one ever asks you any questions?

I actually spoke to someone "in the know" yesterday and found out that yes, basically the reps are set. It was based largely on geography followed by a formula an outside consultanting group is using. The consulting group and HR has more to do with placing us versus our wonderful, demotivating managers.

Yes, consulting groups are always effective. Just watch "Office Space". No truth there! Ha!

LOL! I know! But at least a consulting group will make them look at things in a whole new light. I'm trying to be positive here. I have no doubt ESC management will nix many of the ideas which need to be done in order to save their own butts.

can you ask your "in the know" person how many reps will be displaced?

He wouldn't tell me that. I got the "new" math. Well, some are already leaving and some are retiring, but we have new energy jobs opening etc... So he wouldn't say.

I did learn there is a 2 to 1 ratio of Team Leaders or Territory Leaders to all the other positions. I'm just not sure how they are going to have a GYN and HBT in a lot of the smaller markets.

If they already know- they're just waiting til closer to the end of the year?!! I don't like feeling like a pawn. This ruins my illusion of having control over my life!!!

Bro you had better be careful throwing that karma word around..don't forget..there is probably a 2 out of 5 chance that you'll be gone too

Trust me, I am hoping that I get cut because I want to leave anyway. To me, it does not even matter. Ethicon is not the end all be all. Working your a## off and making only $130k is not worth it to me. I am already working on a few opportunities right now. Atleast there are more job openings now vs last year.

I couldn't agree more. I'm relieved there is a big shake up because I've been thinking about moving forward too. It has been a great ride until the last year. Not sure I'm liking the effects of the "Endo takeover". If there's a place for me in the new Endoworld, I'll give it a shot. If not- sigh...oh well. It's a good kick in the arse to move on. Just do it already!!

Yeah, I am dying to get outta here. Give me my severance so I can go on my merry way. I have had enough of all this BS!!

Why don't you guys tell your managers your wish? That way you can get your severance and someone else in your division who may want to stay will have a better chance of having a position.
