Pharmaceutical professionals are talented and hard working people. But, come on. The entire gig is a sham - prices are ridiculous. It seemed legitimate when I first began over 10 years ago, for the most part, I appreciated all the corporate training and effort. However, I am convinced that if the cards weren't stacked up so high against the consumers, then US drug prices would reflect what they cost in the rest of the world.
Don't give me that BS line that medicines in the US are so much better to justify the difference in cost. Innovation in the pharma industry means combination drugs and once a day etc. I may change my mind if anyone could name 10 new drugs, brought to the market in the last 5 years that stops the progression of a serious illness (doesn't just mask the symptoms).
The big surprise for sales force in 2011 will be if BI doesn't deliver another big slap of reality. Meaning, there are many more changes on the way.
The pharma rep has morphed into a role similar to a telemarketer - harass enough doctors and maybe one will listen. Kinda desperate.
