Big surprise for sales force in 2011

Pharmaceutical professionals are talented and hard working people. But, come on. The entire gig is a sham - prices are ridiculous. It seemed legitimate when I first began over 10 years ago, for the most part, I appreciated all the corporate training and effort. However, I am convinced that if the cards weren't stacked up so high against the consumers, then US drug prices would reflect what they cost in the rest of the world.

Don't give me that BS line that medicines in the US are so much better to justify the difference in cost. Innovation in the pharma industry means combination drugs and once a day etc. I may change my mind if anyone could name 10 new drugs, brought to the market in the last 5 years that stops the progression of a serious illness (doesn't just mask the symptoms).

The big surprise for sales force in 2011 will be if BI doesn't deliver another big slap of reality. Meaning, there are many more changes on the way.

The pharma rep has morphed into a role similar to a telemarketer - harass enough doctors and maybe one will listen. Kinda desperate.

WOW is this true, save for the hard working aspect, most pharm reps have been lulled to worthlessness. It's all relative and frankly a hard working pharm rep works 8 hours a day now.

It is amazing that from the engagement surveys, they came up with this. The sales force always gives upper management terrible reviews because they are terrible leaders, and they decide to de-incentivize us.

This arrogance is to much there are other options that do not involve this condescending company.

I agree and that's what they are counting on. Ramp up contract reps and piss off full time BI employees so they leave. I'll give linagliptin a half hearted launch and see what else is out there. I can't believe they'd do this during launch years especially since they will have pulled the goals out of their asses. This is a dead end job at a dead end company.

Seems like this is revenge. When management announced the results of the survey they also promised to make positive changes, are these the changes they felt would have a positive impact? Management is either malicious or stupid, maybe both. I for one will never fill out another survey.

Interesting that the sales bulletin tells us what the product weights are but they left out how they are going to pay us instead, they are leaving this for the DMs to inform us at the POAs. How's that for transparency?

Not sure I buy much of this thread. I understand the potential of an iPad, but also recognize the limits of that option. So much of our business is developing relationships - make friends and you get more time.

I agree with the person who said that much of the problem in this business is the # of reps trying to get time. If that gets corrected, the profession regains some legitimacy.

BI's attitude is that "relationship" selling is DEAD (old style, meaning antiquated). The new selling model is robotic, android like, repetitive messaging. Another reason for limited access.
Physicians are tired of the product commercials!

We will just looks the rest of the access we have, and that will be that. Finished, done, kaput!
Companies don't care about customers any more than us. I used to love this work because of my customers, but now I would really like to stop because I hate that my efforts support these arrogant bastards. I will be gone by summer.

As bad as this post makes the new pay plan sound, the truth is much worse. Even if you make 100% of goal most likely you will still not make 100% of plan. The best part of this is that upper management has left it to us DMs to roll out to all of you. So sorry...

That's what they do because they are spineless leaders. It's exactly what they did during the layoff. The DMs can't be cool with this either since they are paid on commission. For any DMs or reps who haven't gotten it yet, it's time to stop drinking the koolaid, stop with the cheerleading, stop with the bar charts and graphs and business plans. We can all go about our business despite upper management. I'm not leaving though - I have too much vacation time to ever give it up. I'd never get that at another company.

Are you really this fucking blind? They have been jacking with the damn IC since IC4 2010! Let's adjust the goals up 10% for Nov and Dec, each month! I'm already fucked for Dec. Damn skyrocket on the goal. What the hell?!? This is only the beginning of the cutbacks. Get the fuck out of here while you can!

Have any of you guys looked at the overall IC rankings for the nation for November. 1/471 is just over 96%, second place comes in at just over 95% and the other 469 teams are below 95%

Does this mean on the new system that no one would have hit goal attainment and that 469 teams would get zero dollars. This is awesome.

Bingo!
