Vaccine expansion ?

What is so awful about him? How long has he been a mgr? How old is he?

This is why Bill was fired. Josh and Anthony, come om. They might have been the softest no accountability managers at Merck. Sure they are nice guys but can/will they get the job done (NO). CN up in MA will do a great job. She will hold her team to a high standard and get the job done. these two will not!

Thanks for all the discussion kids. This will help me get from totally clueless to marginally clueless before my interview, which is next week in Philly. I have no vaccine experience but am being considered because I live in the middle of nowhere and there apparently is a shortage of qualified reps out here. I have three years of pharma experience after eight years of transactional sales and can't wait to get out of pharma if I can. Good luck to everyone except my competition. To you I was told to tell you that your interview has been changed to the day after the recruiter told you and that the location was moved to Baltimore...

Then why are they interviewing me F2F? It's been said before, everybody in vaccine sales at some point had NO vaccine sales. Did I mention my territory is in the middle of nowhere? There are no awesome vaccine reps out here looking to move to Novartis and take this spot...

Besides, I BELIEVE in myself! I am one of the most awesome people I know!! And I was sent to this planet by my father Jor-El to save the human race!!!

I worked for Bill and Anthony before and you couldn't be further away from the truth. They are both strong leaders and the entire team would follow them to the end of the earth. They have high standards but know how to treat people and they don't play the big pharma game. I miss them both. If they were still covering the midwest, I would be heading to Novartis.

Anthony Wallace was/is one of the most talented individuals I knew at Merck...his move to NVD is a tremendous loss to Merck, and I am sure he will have a team of very talented, driven individuals. My experience with Mr Wallace was this: He does not settle for mediocre.
I would say that if you were mediocre or worse, you would probably not like Anthony too much as he expects excellence from himself and the people around him...is that such a bad thing? I think not.

cut the crap Tony. Uncle took care of you once this time it is all on you.

sorry. i'm in central PA, NOT Jersey...

ya big dummy. HR departments monitor this site, and many of them have policies about posting online. you just identified yourself. was easy to reasonably conclude that you're probably the same guy from the other thread that keeps yapping about "transactional" experience etc etc.

since you're probably already identified, your postings here will most likey help you to be excluded.

doh!

Dude, I'm not in Jersey or PA. Never reveal yourself online, you moron. you're probably identified to your company now too with the ya big dummy and doh! postings. have fun on the unemployment line when you get fired.

Can I get a non-conflicting answer? My friend interviewed with anthony wallace, bill darnell and someone else from hr for a vaccine solutions position in NJ. I think he said his manager would be anthony. If he gets an offer what should he expect. A manager can make or break a person, so whats the scoop?

"your friend" why are you sooooo concerned about "your friend" and what he'll make? GET A LIFE!

Anthony Wallace was the golden child at Merck. Seemed like he was promoted every year. Not sure if they were all deserved promotions but he seemed pretty sharp. I heard that Merck even spent nearly 6 figures to put him through an executive MBA program while other people couldn’t even get a community college course paid for. I think his departure created a lot of confusion. I don’t know any of the reps that worked for him but I think he was a manager in Michigan if that helps. I know an analyst that worked for him in the past year and he speaks pretty highly of Anthony. I don’t know what your friend (or you) should expect for an offer but that is what I know of him.

Thanks for writing in Anthony

Novartis headhunters have been actively pursuing BPS (vaccine reps) from sanofi pasteur for the last several months. Sanofi will be doing their "optimization" soon...fancy word for lay offs. Sanofi is going to suffer even more losses this year for the following reasons:

1.) GSK's contracting for Boostrix and their other vaccines with loyalty and price incentices - beats what sanofi has to offer...mainly from GSK's vast product line;
2.) Merck's inability to produce vaccines (making it easier for GSK to get in their contracts since they have the needed vaccines)...which in turn promotes Boostrix (vs sanofi's Adacel) if they order the hep vaccines through GSK they will get better pricing on Boostrix and other GSK vaccines so selling the full line of GSK products is much easier right now;
3.) The way sanofi ran their flu prebooking and the market price wars for flu...(Fluzone was not a winner); Also many of us reps reported the launch of Boostrix (which occured in Dec 2008) as early as last year at this time...and sanofi ignored it and made no attempt to counter it. Then in December they had panic attacks as they were not expecting it to actually launch until mid 2009. Too Little Too Late should be the company's slogan.
4.) You can look online for the trials of Menactra vs Menvue and from what I have seen I would think Novartis will use the results in their marketing campaign for their new mening vaccine. From what I understand they are planning on launching in June...not positive though.
5.) sanofi ignores the fact that most vaccine decision makers in physician offices are women (office mgr, nurse, admin)...women are natural price shoppers. They seem to be completely arrogant and ignorant when they price their vaccines. Most of my offices have no idea what flu brand they use and they do not care about sanofi product messages. There is not much difference in most of the competing vaccines efficacy levels so pricing and contracting are huge factors. Sanofi's company mantra seems to be So What...we are sanofi and people will buy from us. They need to completely change the way they have been operating but I feel it may be too late to impact the damage done to the company so far.
