FYI If you are Novartis internal and want to go for rep position, it is CONTRACT for the first year at least so you would be Ventiv employee not Novartis which is why they are not directly interviewing internally.... Managers will be Novartis direct hire but NOT REPS

The whole point is this.. If you are a current PC rep with Novartis this would be a lateral move! Why does the company need to disrupt the current pharma sales force to laterally move them to vaccines??

Absolutely not and even if it was, try asking 100 Novartis pcp reps which position they would rather have. A PED position selling a vaccine and not calling on pcp's anymore or stick to their current position of selling to pcp's? I'll bet close to 90% would rather be involved in the new vaccine sales force. Fuck Novartis for not even allowing an internal rep to post let alone interview for the positions. What's my motivation for continuing to give Novartis everything that I have if I can't even acquire the personal and professional growth and development that Novartis likes to claim they offer? I'll take my chances somewhere else and that is why I'm looking full-time on my full-time salary that Novartis is paying me so I guess it all works out in the end, right? Use that company car gas and miles to drive to my interviews, kinkos for new resumes which I expense and yada, yada!
new Vaccine Manager here - We haven't been told that we can't interview a Novartis employee. Who is giving you this information?
Actually it does matter to me. I want to hire the best candidate and I don't want an entire team from my old company. I might hire a select few of my "own" but I simply want the best candidate out there. I understand your anger but I would hire you if you were the most qualified. The attitude would need to be checked at the door though. No need to lump us all together! It was your company first and I didn't make the rules.
Laternal move? I'm sure this is a promotion.
Really?? Three out of the four RSD's are from the outside. The one internal RSD who was displaced back in October got the other RSD position and what did he do with hiring? He hired all managers from current vaccine companies...didn't even take care of some of his own, especially qualified ones. He should look at himself in the mirror! There is no doubt in Novartis reps minds that the reps will be brought in from the outside. Why haven't they even posted these rep positions on the Novartis intranet...because they don't want Novartis reps getting any of these jobs. You don't understand my anger and I'll never check my attitude at the door so forget about that. By they way, are you are full of shit if you claim that internal/external candidate doesn't really matter to you because you want the person already selling vaccines, right? Come clean, you jerk! All managers hired throughout the country were current managers from other vaccine companies so what does that say about this process? Your so full of shit, man!
Listen up. I work in vaccines with another company and the truth is there are some good and a couple of great reps here but I would not hire 80-90% of them. It is the same with any sales group. The top 10-15% of any sales group are the true top perfromers. The new DM's will be selecting the best talent available. And these days there is a ton of top talent due to the industry downsizing. Account Managers, Hospital Reps, Oncology, device, direct sales from other industries will all be in play. Vaccines expereince is necessary for each distict but not every person will have vaccines experience. If you have been in PCP and in pod/mirror for years, you will have to differentiate yourself in a major way to get one of these positions. Managers will be looking for the best of the best!
Check again. Wyeth, Merk and GSK are all rep level positions not promoted positions. I am not sure about Sanofi but I would have to think it is the same.
There is no question that a PCP rep from any company would love to change to vaccines. Pediatrics is the best specialty to call on. Access, friendly, diect selling Vs sample dropping.
Again, why would an organization want to move it's PCP reps from thier current position to a latertal move to vaccines?? They would not. Makes no business sense.
