Salient Surgical Technologies

You are right. At least now we can see if our full of sh-- CEO has the balls or ability to do something. I can still hear his speach for the last three years. We will have one new product a quarter. We are going to purchase companies and add them to our bag. Whatever, I just mind my own business and sell the product. May leave pretty soon if my inteviews keep going well. I want to make sure I find the perfect fit for my next move. JS as AVP give me a break. No substance. I knew when he showed up (we know how he made it) the company was doomed. Kiss those millions good bye!!!!

Good luck everyone, competition is HERE!!!

Now all of our fearless leaders can follow JA right over the cliff while telling him how wonderful he is and how great the IPO is going to be. IPO? I hear Santa Clause and the Easter bunny are working on it together in never never land.

Hey JA, where are all of our new products and all of the small companies we are going to buy to add products to the bag? We won't have any real competition? How do you explain Bovie's Boss? We are going to sue them right? Then why do they have 17 patents of thier own surrounding this technology? You must be friends with Obama and Pelosi!

Good point. Just where are those new products? Anybody remember the NSM? We are already finished with Q1, have we even filed any new products with the FDA?

JA is nothing but a classic example of being promoted to your level of incompetence. His boy's club is the same so don't expect any of those forward looking statements to EVER come to fruition.

I'm with the other poster, if the interviews keep going well, I'm out of here!!!!!

Is it all really that bad working for Salient? I was thinking of accepting an offer

Yes, it is. Read this board, for the most part it s all true. With BOSS out there now, the competition just got significant.

Unless you are in a territory with paid consultants securing your business.......

Of course, you can always be like the other poster who prides himself on selling his accounts an overpriced under performing device. Of course, that won't serve you well career wise in the long run.

I have seen this product and know orthos who love it....It does not look as bad as you guys make it out to be. Every company will have bitter people...

Are those "Orthos who love it" paid consultants by chance? You'll notice we do not disclose them on our website like other companies so, you probably wouldn't know. How about hospital admin that has to pay for it? Do they love shelling out over $500 per case for a device with no hard clinical or economic data? Do you really think it's just bitter people or a reality check?

Fact - Only 1 published study and that was not very strong. No other clinical or economic data supporting claims.

Fact - No new products despite ongoing promises for god knows how long.....

Fact - Competition from lower cost alternatives that we have no real strategy for competing against. Upper management refuses to acknowledge they exist

Fact - Too many generators placed not generating revenue. Eventually, that cost will catch up with us.

Fact - Still not profitable after 10 years as a "start up".

Now, I could also go on about the lack of leadership, practices by some managers that really make you wonder if they care at all about ADVAMED, lack of HR department and HR violations that are seemingly encouraged but, what's the point. You'll simply think I'm bitter.

Just to clarify, I'm not bitter I've just become enlightened.

It looks to me like the same bitter person has made 90% of the posts on here. Amazing how some people choose to sit and bitch instead of getting out and selling something. Good luck working for any company with your attitude.

Spoken like a true member of our flunkie management team. The skill to say YES and kiss ass will get you no where after this job! Good luck working for a real company and not being exposed as what you are!

I for one, still work here but am close to getting out. I am not bitter but am tired of all the poor leadership, lack of respect for the customer and employees and would like to sell something I can be proud of. I am also not on here "bitching" but, this is a forum where the truth can be told. The culture at Salient certainly does not promote any open dialogue.

Okay...okay! Just trying to get to the bottom of this...

Is that why the turnover is so high?

Where do most Salient reps come from?

HR a mess...do explain...

Turnover is so high because the culture and comp sucks. Though this year year with the brilliant, same quota (hard dollars, not %) for all territories, I'm sure some people will just skate on their paid consultants. But that just demonstrates the lack of leadership that does not look at and appreciate the geographic and other business differences within territories.

Reps have come from mixed backgrounds. Some B2B, some minor med sales, some experienced med sales that probably go snookered into taking the job.

As for HR......That's a longer story that includes the firing of the VP of HR last fall. Now, this contract person is the director. Can you imagine? A contractor as a Director? It appears that any issues brought to HR end up with the person bringing the issue being gone. What a pattern! Managers can pretty much do what ever they want, the "director" seems to only be interested in picking up her paycheck. The VP or HR is also the legal counsel and is either too overwhelmed or also does not care. It's just foolish and someday will prove to be costly.

The last 3 reps they hired are all Stryker guys... Why would these guys take this job you think?

Depends on what division of styker and how they were doing there. If not hitting their number, they were on the short list, that's the Stryker way. Also, you never know what some smarmy Salient manager told them about the job and you never know the truth until you're knee deep in it. So, who knows. Just because they came from Stryker that makes them special somehow?

So since they were with stryker that means what? This company just like haemonetics can really only hire people who are running from something. Trust me if they are coming here or to sell orthopat wherever they were must really suck huge balls.

This is a last resort type job for anybody with a good resume unless they are really really crazy and think there is a market for this type of shit.

Stryker demands 20% growth per year or you are out. If they were hitting the number, they would not have left. So again, we hire the bottom feeders from good companies or those that are in desperate need of a job. With the way this company is run, that is all we will ever get and why we are going to struggle even more now with direct competition in the market. Our top management has run this company into the ground and we will not bounce back.

Why so down? JD can write us a letter to pass out to customers and we will be fine. Or better yet JA can meet with all of the hospital CEO's and give them the same shitty speech he has given us at the NSM for the last 3 years. Even as they tell him that they are using the BOSS, he can repeat to them that there is no one else in the market and if any one tries to break in, he will sue them.
