Roche Carolina

I agree with the person above, it the place and leadership sucks so bad, why hang around? Is a "stay bonus" worth being miserable for the next couple of years? Besides, hanging around for the stay bonus only puts you out on the street looking for a job with a couple hundred of your former co-workers. Keep in mind the stay bonus will be paid out in a lump sum, will immediately elevate you into the next higher tax bracket which means come April 15 you will be writing a huge check to the IRS.

We don't have to leave, we're being layed off or fired one at a time.

LOL...damn straight! The real scoop is that they are letting this drag out as long as they can so that people will voluntarily leave the site so they don't have to pay them a severance. Once a skeleton crew is left, then they will finally close the doors and give out the separation package to the few remaining employees. The only ones making out with a "hefty" stay bonus are the Florence "Non-Leadership" Team (FnLT). Appropriately named as they haven't delivered an ounce of leadership in the years I've been here.

No worries. Severance will be here soon. With the people that have been questioned this week, there will not be enough people remaining after the first retention is payed out to sustain the site.

No doubt. Amazing how the guy does nothing and doesn't get fired. Never saw one productive thing he did for the site in 20 years other than attend community meetings so site heads wouldn't have to.
This is 100% accurate, and anyone who has ever had to endure a lunch at the Civic Center would understand it. With regards to the above post, the "rule of 55" is an absolute joke. Run the numbers for yourself and see how short changed you will be if you happen to fall into this category versus actually working until you are 55.

I believe this is referring to the large number of people that have already accepted positions else where that are about to walk out.

I'm curious - what is there left to sustain or possibly entice a person into taking a promotion at RCI? Will you produce any Esbriet? The production quantities of Xeloda are paltry, at best. Pegasys & Tamiflu are dead, and Mircera is no blockbuster drug.

Roche is simply being nice in allowing the site to remain open a few more years so that people can continue to collect paychecks. All of those products (if there's any demand) can be sourced elsewhere, and with your production volumes, that site could be ran with 50-80 people, if even that. If you take a "promotion" there, you are totally crazy.

Run like hell from RCI.

You are forgetting all of the expertise in Operational Excellence, the progress under Jami and finally the Ammonia Chillers. Together these make the site very desirable.

Just went by the plant and not a car in sight in the parking lot (except for a couple of RCI vehicles). I cannot remember the time we were not making batches on the weekend. Capecitabine to soybeans in four years.

So surprised that they refuse to sell the plant. There are others interested in the site, and yes at a low ball price, but they'd rather tear it down than sell it to someone not in their network. How's that for concern for community and employees???

Better be careful. If you are too accurate in your information regarding the complete lack of concern for employees the guys will try to undermine your position and your reputation. I know from experience. Look for more facts coming.
