Nominations for worst manager at Novartis

You either can't read, or your too obtuse to process the content.
I agree with you - Novartis will never dispense with field rides.
The fact that our accounts hate them doesn't matter to senior management, they'll force it down the customers throats anyway.
They don't benefit the account one iota, and they are a net negative because absolutely nobody wants the ABL there.
But you are correct, Novartis will never change because that would take vision and concern for the customer.
You can bluster and bloviate all you want about how you can force reps to take you out, and you're correct.
That said, it has to be a long and uncomfortable day when you know every person you cross paths with wishes you weren't there.
My bet is, in your case, it’s not a whole lot different when you get home, is it?

lol

My manager has no life outside work. I think he genuinely thinks ride days are a social outing. The chance to interact with people so he can show off what a good “sales” person he is. The customers have referred to him as “that guy” you bring in here. He brings no value. Makes everyone uncomfortable and then I have to go back a week later apologizing to offices for his aggressive sales tactics. When he’s with me I make a fraction of the calls because we spend so much time pre call planning and role playing for offices I’ve been calling on for several years just so this self serving Jack ass can feel like he’s coaching me. It’s the biggest sham going to pay these managers salaries for the little they really do. However, the same can be said for reps too lol. We reps are glorified caterers and fedex people but managers are glorified babysitters. The whole industry is a joke. *sighs while collecting next oaycheck*

Presumptuous and an idiot rep. You’re a dual threat.

Everyone laughs at you, and you have to live with that.
Your reps want nothing to do with you.
The accounts make fun of you and have no idea why you are there.
From the time you leave the house in the morning until you make it home (maybe), nobody has any use for you.
You're a joke. You are only good for unironic humor.
You'll get your field days because the only thing Novartis knows how to pioneer is new and innovative ways to get put on a C.I.A.
Enjoy your time sitting in a car with people who don't want you around and adding zero value. Must be a great way to pay the bills.I

That's funny. Except for the pay why would anyone want to be an ABL. You are not teaching or coaching us anything. I have had 4 ABL's in 9 years and they all want one thing. Can I do a field ride so I can meet my required days. Nobody wants you in the field that is 100% correct. You bring no value to the customer. I believe you destroy the selling opportunity. I put up with it because that's the industry.

You pass out lunches like a preschool teacher

You pass out lunches like a preschool teacher

Yet another blistering-hot take.

Some days I do. Some days I hand out samples. On occasion, I do both.

When I show up, they are happy to see me. They welcome me in. They ask questions and listen to the responses, and I do the same.

When you show up, they leave. They walk away from you. They feel contempt for you. You bring absolutely no value. You provide zero and simply take up space. If they wanted you there, they'd ask. But they don't. Ever.

Your reps wish they could leave you on the curb, but they can't. Novartis sees to that. But you aren't wanted. Again, you simply take up space and read incorrect numbers off of an organizationally manufactured spreadsheet.

I get your point. A lot of reps bring very little to the table. Your pathological obsession with lunches is concerning, but I think we understand what you are trying to say. Thing is, no ABL's provide value. It isn't a character issue with most of them, it is just that the job is even more pointless than that of a rep.

Those who are honest with themselves accept it and take the check quietly. Then there's you.

Lunches and coffee are what you do. You don’t sell anything. No clinically-trained practitioner is taking the rehearsed talking points of a communications or business management graduate seriously. You’re a walking and talking advertisement. You wear a name tag like a mall employee.

Funny pissing match between whose job is more worthless and stupid, rep or mgr? I’ve been both. Hated both jobs. The correct answer is both are overpaid and numbingly mindless. Everyone go back to your corners and just take the checks while you can.

Yes I am. I also made over 230k last year plus 60 into my 401k in 1 year. Are you jelly?

257k before bonus and equity just by rolling out of my bed in the morning
Looks like I’m better than you, but keep using adolescent phrases like “you jelly.” It’s obviously working for you. Again, you wear a name tag like a mall employee.

Yeah but your wife is getting banged in the ass by everyone in the neighborhood. That extra equity will be used for her alimony payments.

Sounds like most of the managers in the mid atlantic. Useless box checkers.
