Neuroscience

The hiring manager made a very direct, nasty and against Federal Law comment about my age.
They were hesitant to ask any questions because they were not going to hire a person over the age of 40.
Finally, they asked 4 pathetic very brief questions and dismissed me.
Age discrimination has been against federal law in the US since 1960.
I have never seen anything this BLATANT.

thats interesting based on who I saw at the interviews. In no way am I saying you are wrong but in my holding room with me were 2 individuals over 40 and I met two others that were also over 40. I myself am 36 so pretty close. If they dont want over 40s why Fly so many out and waste the time?

they have to play the game. They will hire a couple of people in there 40s. But Lilly’s over all strategy is to hire millennials .
So are you saying someone over 52 that interviewed has no chance of being hired even if they have more experience in neuroscience and launching products that someone who has no clue??

For one 53 year old with 3 CoEs behind them, they can hire and train up at least two millennials. In some companies, they can hire three. Look around the industry...this is how its done these days. In addition, they know that in many parts of the country access is so bad that its moot WHO they hire, anyway.

Recent trends in millennial firings, because of poor performance and missed work days are making experienced reps more desirable.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. The relationships we worked hard to establish in the past when access was easier and more substantial mean nothing now. It’s not a level playing field. Prescribers MUST write formulary drugs. A 22 year old with no clue can and will go to Hawaii.

I was in the Chicago group. The interview took around 50 minutes, then I was given time to ask questions. I had maybe 3 STAR questions the others were basic stuff. Why Lilly? and why this job? I do not see how a decision can be made by asking 4 questions. The hiring mgr told me that all offers will be on or before the 17th. It was a smooth process but you could tell that they were rushed and no way in the allowed time frame could they ask all questions from their list.

Yeah, but they can bring their blanket and gerbils on the plane. Who’ll wipe their ass if Mommys not there? Will they have a designated safe space provided?
