I will be retiring in the near future younger than i hoped

It amazes me that people cannot believe that pharma reps can't be successful in other ventures outsid pharma. If you utilize your Pfizer time and free time correctly it is easy to start a successful business on the side.

I am 46 and in your 3%. Very little of the $2.5 million in assets has to do with Pfizer stock. I made money in the previous company stock that I invested properly. Just because 95% of Pfizer reps are lazy like you does not mean 5% have made proper decisions. If you looked at my investment portfolio it would amaze you what I amassed oN Pfizer time. Keep comparing yourself to your 30 year old counterpart and think you're successful. If you compared yourself to me you would realize how you are wasting time instead of utilizing the most valuable resource - Pfizer time.

With the future layoffs we all need to use Pfizer time to think about the future. No more loyalty to Pfizer because they will cut most of us soon.

I am looking to leave the industry and semi retire. Anyone find a good career after Pfizer that is more satisfying

Very few long-time Pfizer employees successfully leave this industry. Check around: most of them end up in companies loaded with Pfired Pfizer Pfolks, like Lundbeck, Otsuka, Sunovion, Eisai, and Publicus Solutions. There are a few that started the thus-and-so pharma training agency. But they only seem to be able to get work at companies populated heavily by Pfired Pfizer Pfolks.
T'aint pretty out there, people.

Correction to #1, this job is stressful?? I guess you have a bad manager and that can be stressful. But for most of us this is a miserable job but stress is not one of the problems. You could be last 2 years in a row and just blame manage care access. Most sales jobs they get rid of bottom 10-20% each year. The only stress in this job is feeling guilty that I can't see anyone.

Start your own business that is not related to Pfizer. Use Pfizer time to start and when you decide to leave or get laid off, you have an income. It is not hard. It doesn't matter f you make 4 calls Monday or 8 calls Monday. The bonus will be about the same. Just imagine if you could use 2 hours per day of time you wait in offices for a 2 minutes conversation. 10 hours a week plus 15 additional hours - now you have time to start a business. Being lazy is the only reason you are not presently doing this.

No, my personal code of ethics is why I am not doing this. What you recommend is called stealing. You accept a paycheck and benefits under the premise that you are working a full day. I had a counterpart that launched her own business while always going on extended medical leave, feigning this or that disease. She finally got caught (when someone saw her listed on a workshop poster), resigned, and had the stones to speak on all kinds of women's shows and programs. Her topic? How to balance work and family life. Charlatans and slackers may win in the short term, but their poor moral fiber will show through in the biz world, and they'll lose in the end.

I have worked very hard to launch my business, but I do it after 5 pm, mostly after the family is asleep, and on weekends. When I am ready to launch, I will resign from here.

Well put.

6.75 mil, all cash and other liquid assets. 33 yrs old, living the good life and laughing at you losers. Did not inherit it, good investments, real estate, and just plain smart...genius really at how easy it was and still is. Pfizer money pays my taxes, the rest is mad money.

I have poor moral fiber but have accumulated over $4 million in paid assets in 16 years in the industry - not with Pfizer the entire time. If 16 years is the short term I win. If losing the Pfizer job is your definition of losing, I am prepared to lose.

Uh huh. We all believe you.

I'm shocked to see so much criticism of Pfizer and the industry. Isn't the pharma industry the ultimate American success - highly profitable for shareholders and executives? This is the private enterprise system you all idolize. You hate all things government but the "free market" can never do anything wrong. That's you, right??? Right?????? Well then just shut up and keep working like a slave for big business because that's the system that you mindlessly support.

Big business may be bad but big government is worse. No matter where you look in this world there are opportunists and con men who care only for themselves. In the non-private enterprise world change does happen and it generally isn't pretty (can you say Syria, Egypt, or Greece).

It may be fair to state that the uber wealth are quite satisfied with this system and things will not be changed until there is "bloody revolution". While most of us hope "not", the alternative to unfairly distributed prosperity is a more equal poverty. I do so hate socialists (aka Progressives).

Indeed...many many have "retired" younger than they expected to :-(((((
You sound like a real douche.

I'm not the 6.75m guy but I find it funny that no one believes that pharma reps can invest or build businesses while they are reps and amass millions. I'm mid 40's have over 3.5m in assets and run my investments during Pfizer time and nights and weekends. Just because everyone thinks the $100,000 job is great some of us use this job as the capital to do bigger and better things. PS. - I don't win many awards but a plaque or trip doesn't make you independently wealthy.

Thief. Why don't you stop being a detail rep or manager, and run your businesses and investments full time? If you've accrued $3.5M in assets working part-time, think of what you could accomplish on a full-time basis. Why not? That is----unless you dont have the balls to leave your little detail rep job.
Thief.

I smell bullsh*t. Didn't inherit it because mommy and daddy are still alive bankrolling you (if any of it is true at all). Give me a break.

Call me a thief. I guess I am. No worries, I still have enough money to last me the rest of my life. Why don't I leave? The pharma job is too easy and my business doesn't need me from 9-1 daily. As soon as my lunch is done I am done Pfizer. If I don't have a lunch I am done by 11:30am. The question is - why leave?
