CIBA VISION OPENINGS!!!

If you have any sales experience you can draw on, you should do fine in the PI. The F2F was a bit different. 2 or 3 sales managers (most who seemed holier than thou) ask rapid fire situational questions posed by HR. Then yopu get to sell Organic Wine to a bunch of people.....Loads of fun. The funny part is, I sold wine for over 10 years and they questioned me on my wine knowledge and selling techniques.
The Organic Wine role play is absolutely absurd!

Honest - don't waste your time b/c I already did and if I can save you the drama of the company and it's rediculous interview process, I'd like to..

If you are a first time rep (fresh out of college or switching career) maybe CIBA is the right place. If you have any tenure and skills in the filed -- you'll be disappointed with the 50-60K base and micro managing DM's. The hiring process is more like a cattle call. You spend 12+ hours on pre-work that has to be submitted before the 5 series of interviews you'll go through in one day.
You'll first under-go a physcological assessment (absurd)
Then you'll go through a series of questions where you'll be asked to answer in the STAR format - geez... maybe you want to hire robots Novartis instead of people?
You will asked to role play scenarios from selling organic wine (heeellllooo) to being a tie sales person to a car dealer --- WTH
Another BS look at your capability...
After all the humiliation is over, you'll be put on a bus back to the airport because - YES, you are assembled into a herd (as in the referance to cattle call) and transported back to your home via plane, train or automobile.

I checked out after the first round and told my "handler" that there was not a snowball's chance in (you know where) I would even consider this job!

These people think the contacts they pedal are equivelent to actual thought provoking clinical positions that really test a sales persons merrit and challenges you.

I hope this helps ... for a company that appeared so professional and together, it was a HUGE disappointment!

Heads up! I interviewed in LA and was not emailed a personal rejection letter. However, I noticed that when I click on the "schedule face to face" email from Ciba vision it allows you to check your status in the hiring process. No surprise but after clicking on the link that allows me to check my status in the hiring process I was re-directed to a rejection letter. I'm disapointed that I didn't get the position but after not hearing back from them for weeks I'm not surprised. Good news is I kept interviewing with other pharma companies so I'm sure I'll get a position with another company. Good luck to everyone!

It appears as though you were rejected after the 1st round.....and as far as base salary goes you are highly mistaken with the range! They seeked top candidates and offered top $ for such. The bonus structure is weak, that is true, however that still puts me well over in the 6 fig's total comp.

Here is the notification I found on the "status" e mail from late march. Pretty impressive that this company won't even send something to you personally. After the whole process, I'm less than impressed with the events and how they chose to spend their money. I guess that's what happens when insurance companies fund the pharma industry.

Application Status

Thank you for applying for the job:

I completely agree!!

I received my training modules and laptop!
Did anyone really inquire about the car choice? Ford fusion would be okay, i just cant really believe a Prius is a choice after the re-call???

this whole process was crazy. The 2 mangerstrhat interviewd me trid from the getgo t intimidate me. Ihave 16 yeasr experience so I am sure they knew they could't afford me. They were rude and demeaning. I recvievd 4 copies of the rejection e-mail yesterday!!! WTF?

This is pure speculation but it appears that the company wanted to hire people who didn't have tons of sales experience. I know some of the candidates who got rejection letters had extensive sales backgrounds like yours. I guess the other question would be, why have these individuals come in the first place? Has anyone gotten an offer with 10 years sales experience?

So much for that theory...I guess I just suck...Congrats and good luck to you.

I have 7 years...and ophth REJECTED, I have 5 friends who interviewed...all with over 10years of experience, all with Ophthalmology experience some with lens experience...ALL REJECTED! Just because one made it through the cracks I wouldn't abandon your theory!
