Amedisys

Recently termed after almost a decade of servitude!! Meeting/exceeding numbers in a saturated market, growing the business, contracts and preferred provider relations with large hospital systems just to be kicked in the teeth. I have found a new job in the same line of work and realize that they are not the only company with DM programs, balance programs for seniors, physician portals and quality clinicians (yes I drank the Kool-Aid too). AVP of BD with not a clue and now is seeing the success of his recent termination of a long term employee- 50% decline in a large office. Put on a PIP for the first time in 20 years of healthcare experience and gone within 45 days. But wait, he is still there and as far as I am concerned he should stay right where he is!!! No loyalty from senior management to take care of the dedicated staff that make the ship stay afloat. This ship is sinking so you better start looking out for number 1 because that is all you can count on.

Almost exact same thing happened to me. I was with the company 15 years...always met my numbers...even trained new AE's...helped in blitzes...was a model AE...and was cut loose. The ofc I was in is now way down in numbers and they can't keep an AE in that ofc. No AE has stayed more than a month since I left. Serves the scum bag AVPBD right!!

How does a company this large get this screwed up...unbelievable

The man who started this company is a wonderful (very RICH) man. He has incredible passion for caring for the elderly but that is where it stops. His vision is not carried out throughout the organization. I have had companies that work with this home health co ask me what is going on. The corporate office does not have a clue what is going on out in the field. Communication does not exist. They have great ideas but it never gets past management. It is really sad. This was a top notch, best job ever. Now...just waiting on verification on another opportunity then I am gone. Thank God!

Ok, he is a great guy. That does not excuse his ignorance of what is going on in his company. It will be his and the company's downfall. Got to get a new job!!!!

No...I don't think he is a great guy. He knows more about what is going on in this company than what people think. He does not care..he has made his millions and only cares about getting more of medicares money any way he can. Greed is a nasty thing.

great guy. What planet are you living on? This guy is the most dishonest, back stabbing, money grubbing, lying, cheating, person on this palnet. He and his cronies know every trick in the book to bleed the medicare system dry. Why do you think we now have to do face to face forms. I just hope that some how all this bad shit he has put out into the universe cathches up to him.

When I was hired as a CTC 6 months ago, I was told that the job was 80% clinical and 20% sales - this was confirmed during training in Baton Rouge. The reality is just the opposite. As an RN, I took this job to get out of sales, which was my previous position with another company. Also, forget getting the promised bonus. Even if you make your numbers, there are so many things out of your control that figure into the bonus calculation that you will not see it. Worst career decision that I ever made!

Thanks for the info. What factors play into your bonus? From looking at the previous posts no one appears to be making bonus. How is this company perceived by people who make the home health decisions? I would think organizations with provider system ties would have the upper hand as far as getting referrals. I know this could vary by geography.

So then how do you figure in bonuses if you don't do sales? Aren't bonuses tied to sales? That is why AEs should be getting credit for all since they ARE sales.

You will have a set number of medicare referrals you must get and they must be admitted. If your agency is having staffing issues and referrals don't get admitted you will not get credit for bringing in the referral. You have no control over this and that really sucks.

My agency and the ones close by me are perceived as being only after the medicare dollar. It is very very hard to get them to use us. Plus, we have a huge turnover in clinical staff.

Most, if not all hospitals WILL use their own home care agencies. You won't stand a chance competing against a hospital based agency.

Amedisys promises all these great programs and such. They will brainwash their sales people to think that Amedisys is the best but in all actual reality Amedisys is a cluster f**k. By far the worst home care company out there. Got to big to fast and only care about getting bigger and richer.

the poster is correct! the truth is they are too big to make changes quickly and our competitors are crushing us in the marketplace especially when we only accept medicare...

I agree 100% with the last poster. The CTC is allegedly a clinician; must be an RN. However, they are treated like a sales rep in terms of having a quota of referrals, calls per week, bonus, etc. There is a complete disconnect with the Corporate philosophy and the reality of the Care center. Never worked for a company where some of the business you generate is not counted toward your quota - mostly any private insurance patient.
