$100 million class action suit

The last poster is truly an idiot. Our company doesn't even have a maternity leave policy. It's short term disability you moron. And last time I checked, having a c-section is a major surgery so the 8 weeks of pay is for physical recovery--not to take care of your baby. Anything you take after that is UNPAID. Why don't you take the time to even know what the hell you're talking about before opening your big stupid mouth.

May want to reread handbook before you look more foolish. DSI does indeed offer Maternity leave, C Section or not, not just STD. They also offer Paternity Leave, which is crazy awesome! Can't wait to knock up the Mrs!

This may be the wrong thread for this but ever since I started working for this company I have a bulge at the base of my tailbone, right above and a little left of the top of my butt crack. It is the size of a ping pong ball, under the skin and hard. It hurts from time to time, I think its from sitting in my car so much. Anyone else have this disgusting deformation?

LOL, i actually went to a dr about that very thing, polonidal cyst maybe? try to sit on something soft in a bath as hot as you can take. it may very well be from sitting. stop pre call planning so much and you will be ok, LOL

No...it's FMLA which covers anything from having a baby to taking care of sick relative or whatever else you may need it for. And it is 12 weeks available to any employee, male or female. It is unpaid and all it does is guarantee you a job. It is a state law that every company with a certain number of employees has to offer its employees. And the paternal leave is one week off with full pay. So again, I don't get where people are thinking women are getting paid time off for 22 weeks or some crazy amount of time. And as long as you don't go out early you are entitled to 6-8 weeks FULL pay while out on short term disability after having a baby just like you would get full pay if you had back surgery or something else. The amount of time paid is determined by what kind if procedure you're actually having done-hence, 6 weeks for vaginal birth vs. 8 weeks for c-section since one is surgery and the other isn't. I don't get why there are so many people who want to hate on women for having a baby-like they're getting some kind of unfair pay or advantage.

The person who wanted to switch territories was NOT even given an interview. Reguardless of what would have happened, she deserved an interview. Then if you go on and read her complaint, she was not promoted in a territory she was already in, and instead they promoted someone LESS qualified from an outside territory so that makes your arguement of not wanting 2 territories with new people in them a moot point. I think you need to READ a little more closely.

But that is just my opinion.

No she does not deserve an interview to switch terriories. She was already in a territory that by her own admission was performing quite well. This was during a very trying economic crisis. It makes perfect business sense for the survival of the company to keep her right where she was. It seems quite selfish that she would just wants to be closer to homewhy?...to slack off on the job? Start cutting time off the start and end of he day. Sounds like a plan to start slipping. The report doesn't say ow the other person was less qualified, so that's just the opinion of a disgruntled employee.

Every company--DSI or whoever "docks" pay while out on disability to cover the health insurance, car allowance, etc. The benefits still cost the same, regardless of what you have available for vacation, and paid time off. That is just how any disability system works. There is no such thing as full pay for the full leave. What is protected is the job while out. Before you start thinking that I am an evil man, or a corporate in-house person, I am actually a female field person. What I wish is that regardless of what your gender is, is to do your job, do it well, and you will get noticed in the right way. Complaining that things aren't fair, well nothing is fair. It just isn't. We don't all make the same amount, we don't get the same performance evaluations, and we don't get the same territories making the top dollar quarter over quarter. I'm thankful we don't. It would be pretty boring to have everything be the same for all.

You have the same deductions on your check when you are on leave that you did before you are on leave, unless you are gone longer than the alotted time for your reason leave.
This is the only company I know that prorates your raise if you were out on leave.
No, not everything is fair.. But some managers give their reps high performance ratings because they want good 360's or their reps to talk good about them, then other managers give lower ratings for the exact same thing.

First, I never read where it said where the other territory was, so how do you even know it was closer to home? And your argument of not wanting someone closer to home because they would slack off is moronic. Farther from home would make you get to offices later, and leave the territory earlier to get home. I would think living in territory or closer would allow you more time to work because of less transit time. I have never heard of someone cutting time because they lived closer to home, must be something you have personal experience with.
Second, you believe the person when she says her territory was performing well, but don't believe her when she says the person hired was less qualified. Both can be proven, so why do you believe one over the other. Just to prove your moronic conclusions? If this is what women have to deal with in DSI, I am surprised all of them aren't suing.

I am sure that there are plenty that have signed on and have the documentation needed!

How long until we see a female promoted to ABD? Less than 3 weeks? Then we will see a chain of females getting promoted. It is pretty sad that it won't be the best candidate in a lot of the spots but they will start making changes because of the lawsuit.

Let me guess from your very naive reply that youre' between 16 ( mentally) and 23(physically). Youre a very good little girl- always going for the Gold Star. WAKE UP- you are now in reality. If all any of us had to do was work hard, BTW, most of us work at least a 60 hour week, and on top of that we took on extra assignments- OOPs Little Girl- we already do that to AND ( pay attention) WE DO NOT get fairly recognized for our contributions and value we bring to DSI. So, take off your Tiara and TuTu and stand strong for the first time in your goodie two shoes life and SPEAK UP!

Even if it does happen- look at the history at DSI. No woman lasts for very long in a Senior Management position. This one wont last either- within 18 months she'll either be demoted or pushed out. The very few that have lasted longer in the HO- well lets just say they they "assumed the position" in most cases.

I look forward to seeing the actual details of this case. The press release is just filled with "leagalease" language trying to paint the company in the worst light possible. I see women were asked to " wine and dine with male physicians" but didn't mention that male reps were asked to do also. I am sure female physicians were also part of that. it's a sales position and wining and dining are part of the job. I'd like to know specifically where the "smoke filled" meetings are being held. You can't smoke in public places where I am from. Sounds like a law firm trying to murky the waters to gain sympathy and that's why I hate lawyers.

Look on the press release in the upper-left for the link to the actual PDF of the officially filed lawsuit. You don't have to rely only on the press release. Read the complaint for yourself.

As for the "smoke-filled" meetings... There is no place in Las Vegas where smoking is prohibited, as many gamblers smoke. The West holds many, many meetings in Las Vegas casinos. And they are all "smoke-filled".

First off, don't be hatin on miss goody two shoes, she is just keeping it real. Here's the deal:

- If you work 60 hours a week as a pharma rep, I have a unicorn for sale. Are you interested?
- What you mock is what we should be hiring
- You need to replace the batteries on your rabbit
- Everybody is taking on "extra assignments", both in the field and at home office and they don't get paid extra for it. It's called getting done what needs to get done, regardless of headcount, obstacles, etc.

Now go take a Xanax, have a glass of cheap white wine and relax.

Hey why didn't they add the fact that pregnant reps were forced to pump their own gas in the lawsuit? They should have been allowed to drive to Oregon or maybe even Jersey to have it pumped for them so as not to be exposed "to harmful vapors". I think that is just as dumb of an arguement as "smoke filled casino" exposure. It's not like you are walking through a blackjack pit at 2 am. More like skirting the perimeter of the vacant casino floor to walk to the meeting rooms in a completely different wing of the building. Weak case me thinks.

I am sure there will more lawsuits to! I've already called to join in. I didn't get a tier promotion but a guy that started around the same did. My numbers were better every year but he was in a challenged territory with access and managed care. I had managed care issues too!

if you stay out a few weeks longer they send you debit cards in the mail as a form of payment. I feel like they make it intentionally confusing so there's no way you can figure out what the real deal is.

Like I know, right? Debit cards can be like so hard. Like this one time, I had to swipe it like three times and it wouldn't go through!?! I was like OMG, why won't it go through? And like the sales lameo tells me to like swipe it the other way. So I like looked at him like as if, ya know? So I turned it around and OMG, it went through. My face would have dropped when that happened...but the Botox won't let it, ya know? So I got my money but I don't know. It's real confusing.

Whatevs!

Can someone explain the breast feeding issues in the suit? Why are you breast feeding at company events and meetings? Are you bringing your kids to POA meetings? Why does a nursing mom need her own room? I don't understand how these become work related issues?
