This is a typical scenario at Amgen. DM wants someone gone regardless of performance HR will help the manager get rid of whoever they like.Mike Kneuer. I learn nothing from him. His conference call are basically a 5 year old with a tantrum if the numbers aren’t perfect and talks to people in a way that is shit. I remember him constantly being rude to one of our top reps. You could always tell he never liked them, next thing we knew that rep who was an amazing sales person always killing it is gone. HR listened to him of course in whatever bs excuse he gave them. He is why our territory went through 6 months with no rep, why our sales are down and our Regional are the reason why the southeast is imploding

the entire team was blindsided. Of all the reps at Amgen this one blew us away. We have no idea what bull this manager pulled out of his ass, but he must have pulled something because the person they let go never even came close to violating any protocol. They would point blank call and let someone know they was only making one call that day because they had a family emergency so they would go ahead and count it as a vacation day. We all assume this manager came in and didn’t like that this person was loved by everyone, had won numerous chairman’s and team excellence and had a personality we all enjoyed and wanted the “threat” gone and found a way. We lost our first team excellence with them gone because they legitimately made us all love our job. We should have seen the sign though when our old manager left because he knew our regional was toxic

Watch what you say about MK. You will pump you from the front and then flip you over and pump you from behind. #Livestrong
Heard nothing but good things about her. Nothing to see here.it’s not envious, it’s showing they continue to put people into positions of management who have no damn clue how to manage a team. The numbers speak for themselves in many of these cases as does the rep turnover. It’s happening across Amgen and it’s costing them. I know people who were top reps who are moving over to sell other drugs that compete against us that are just as good but the culture is better because our culture is tanking

I have heard mixed reviews, but of course that means there have been great things and not so great things, I was speaking as a whole with the comment that was made that Amgen has put people in a position of power that should not have that position but as long as their head is up corporates ass they don’t care. Look at what has happened in Florida with terrible managers. The entire panhandle is imploding because one manager shouldn’t have been one and they knew it. It’s becoming more about who can continue to brown nose corporate than about actually hiring people of worth who will encourage, teach and build your reps.
Thanks for your idiotic and specious diatribe. Everyone at Amgen that gets ahead in their career is not an “ass kisser or minority.” That’s an excuse that you bitter losers like to use rather than accepting the fact that you’re lukewarm at best.and that is why all of Amgen is imploding.. it’s not about who is the best at what they do or what value they can provide. It’s about who’s ass they kissed or what minority box they check, especially if they’re from CA. Those people just networked into corporate TO home office and then do a rotation in sales/marketing to justify them being hired for a spot they have no qualifications for and have not earned. Welcome to the Amgen way!

That’s field drama, it doesn’t affect my role. However, the resume senders may want to tread lightly. The BMS Cafepharma board has an overarching theme that the company sucks. You are conflating a few occurrences into an Amgen systemic issue involving both ass kissers and, somehow, minorities. It must be a pharmaceutical and medical device issue because, according to the rest of the Cafepharma boards, being an ass kissing follower and/or a minority seems to be the people getting the majority of the promotions. Of course these arguments are objective and not due to the disputatious nature of individuals that like to make excuses. Amgen’s turnover is no worse than any other large organization in this industry.meh, in Florida that is the reasoning! Not the minority thing, but the ass kissing. All you have to do is look and the shit show that was the panhandle and what happened there by a manager who was not qualified to be a manager and look at how that territory is imploding. Many of these southern states have managers who are killing their territory. Southeast has had some terrible numbers across a few BU’s and it’s only because on management and their RBDs. That’s not being bitter, that’s straight fact and they chased off top reps who were high performers last April/May because of the Cardiovascular drug that shelved and instead of layoffs found bull shit reasoning to lay people off and they still haven’t recovered because managers used it to layoff great reps they didn’t like or high income reps and then hired people for much less money. That happened to at least 6 people I know of personally and their numbers were stellar. Amgen is killing their good reps off one by one. I have a good friend who works for BMS and her hiring manager asked what the hell is happening at Amgen because she is getting applications all the time right now and that used to not be the case and the resumes she has coming across her desk are high performing reps.

oh I never said minority, someone else did, and I agree about BMS, however Amgen used to be the company everyone flocked to, jobs once posted barely lasted a couple weeks and now they are up for well over a month, one job was up for over 4 months in my old territory. I think the thing is, Amgen always prided itself on not being like the rest of Pharma, and that’s what made most people flock to it was they weren’t like the rest of the industry, but now they’re not only like the rest of the industry, they’re allowing drama and fighting on the inside, managers to basically run amok, and stuff like that shouldn’t be happening. I get that it happens it either companies, but what happened to “the Amgen Way” and being different than all those companies. It’s just really sad to see, because when I started here 9 1/2 years ago, it was a very different culture, and I hate to see a company that has so much to offer, so many amazing therapies, and for the most part really great reps, fall apart because of stupid little things, and the inability to continue to embrace a culture that they once were sought after by every high achieving rep because of that culture. It’s like they don’t care anymore and I personally find that sad. People can disagree, people can say fine then leave, people can say that every company is this way, but wasn’t the reason why so many of us wanted to work for Amgen because they weren’t like every other company?
exactly and then somehow those awful reps from the places those good reps came from started following them and next thing you know, all the people/attributes that made Amgen great have been run off or shoved in a desk somewhere. The big Pharma skeleton crew came over and pillaged the carcass that once was a great west coast biotech, started botching launches and taking this org down the tubes. Happens to everything that is great, it becomes a target. Once anything gets too big to fail, it starts sucking bc there will always be those good for nothing employees that suck the life out of an organization and offer nothing in return.
