What is Eli Lilly company culture like?

I had been with Lilly for 10+ years and had good reviews and great performances including being in the top 5 of performers and sometimes #1 on a given product in a business unit. I was getting close to retirement age and wham.....

suddenly, i had no skills and the drs. did not like me - or so said the reviews. This after many years of good to excellent reviews.

After 'seeing the light' i started an age discrimination lawsuit against them which went on for more than 5 years and talked with many people across the US, in other divisions and found i was not alone. This seemed to be sop. They want you to quit... dont quit... Get an attorney that specializes on Human Rights and on contingency - they are available.

Beware, Lilly changes policy and accuses you of violations they have trumped up. No surprise, but, they will go on your computer and change things and eliminate things. The game is intimidation and fear. Make sure you have hard copies of everything.

we should compare notes. you can find mine under "anyone happy to be gone" M

The culture has changed drastically. Lilly is more concerned with how many MVP votes one accumulates and how well you motivate your " team mates". To do their job. They are giving their reps a administrative day so they can come up with creative ways to get their team to do their job. If you want to sell and be in the field with your customers and considering Lilly don't bother. When your future career is determined by a popularity contest amongst your competition "peers" and your not in with the cool crowd no matter how good you are with your customers you are screwed!

This is so true! I have a partner who got a promotion and our drs. do not know who she is. Lilly used to be a great place to work at but not anymore. I just do my job and work hard but I have no faith in Lilly as a company at all. Novo is hiring and they are a better company and you will make more money there.

I agree with much that has been written here: vicious, back stabbing, hight ptressure.

The nust pernicious characteristic of Lilly culture is lying. Management lies so much, they believe themselves.

STAY AWAY. Especially women.

They are all about the FIPNET Indians and Black Expo African Americans, but they have not been sued by enough women.

Lilly = fraud

I was rewarded with Lilly for about 27 years and placed through the over for 5 before I retired with my 90.

Read Blood Feud. It's about Amgen and J&J's battle with eopgen and it's written from a rep's perspective.

It looks like Lilly isn't much different from the rest. It's just tougher if you are living the culture instead of just reading about it.

Get out while you can...no matter the division. Don't know why the "top down" mentality seems to be to get rid of older/mature/successful etc. reps, but maybe that's good ole corporate america these days.
Either way if you have a good manager...document everything because when, not if, that manager moves on, you more than likely will get a DM that will change everything....and the good times will stop..
Document, document, document....I wish I had.

It's like being a member of the People's Temple and reporting to the Rev Jim Jones... Remember what happened to his followers?? The smart ones thought for themselves- THEY survived... Leave while you can, or don't enter the doors....

Interesting. Every time I mention F I P N E T in a message, it gets deleted. What's up with that?

Working for Eli Lilly was the single worst professional experience of my life. The Manager was/is one of the most dishonest people I've ever had to work with. Many of the posts are true here, very sad. He is still around even thought he has lost multiple reps, told horrible lies about me, as well as other co-workers to make himself look better. I left on my own, it was just not worth the stress it caused me and my family. I should've sued the crap out of him, but you know how scary the thought of that would be. I think it would have been a no-win situation for all involved. Sad that a co like this doesn't value employees anymore!

I don't know what you expect out of Big Pharma. You're in bed with the FDA. Why would Big Pharma care about employees? They don't give a $hit about the people they sell their crap drugs to. They lie, cheat, steal and would sell their own grandmother if they got a good price for her.

Anyone with a conscience doesn't work for Big Pharma.

Yes, you put it in sideways. It makes you feel good for about 20 minutes, just long enough to be escorted to the door by HR thugs.

Then, you succumb to projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhea. At the same time.

And then life begins anew.

Don't forget to file for unemployment. If they refuse, get a lawyer. Maybe two.

Gee. I got the projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhea everytime I had the PM review. All the "positive feedback" make me so sick I couldn't control myself... it's all about ass kissing and back-stabbing. Seriously, stay as far away as possible unless you are darn good at those things.

I usually take a long shower to try to wash off all of the dirt.

It's a little like being sodomized.
