This Week?

What has everyone done in preparation for this in regards to looking for another job? Since we went through this last year did you start early or did you just crank up the search recently? I fear that many have done nothing because they feel safe. Everyone needs to get the resume out here now!

the majority of reps started looking/networking last year when all of this started. People began leaving after NTM and it slowly continued. If you didn't know this was coming last year when they began the layoffs, you are stupid(sorry for being so blunt). Those consultants started the process last year. It takes that long to transform a company of this size. You also have to produce a number on the street. You earning cannot drop before a certain time..all about the analysts on wall street and potential earning power.
So to answer your question, yes people at least at EP knew what was going on. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of people who didn't think anything of the layoffs or the timelines they were throwing at us at NTM. I've been telling people for a year now and I think people finally started getting on the wagon after NTM...it takes some people a little bit to catch on...they will be the ones left to fend for themselves.

I have never seen a layoff handled so poorly. The least they can do is release a timeline and headcount number. How inhumane and unprofessional can they be? They have lost the respect of many employees.

I am sure Kip and likeminded senior managers thought that if they gave more information that the sales reps would stop working, become unmotivated and start looking to leave Ethicon. Unfortunately this is exactly what has happened with the poor handling of the "transformation" to this point.

The "Credo" way of handling this downsizing would have been to offer incentive for reps to leave J&J rather than wait out the cut. Offering more information for internal and field employees to make appropriate decisions whether they want to stick it out or take a chance somewhere else.

I started looking about 6 months ago and it has been a slow process. The job market is not that great. I have had many phone interviews with fewer f2f interviews and 1 offer (last week). My timing is a little early as I was hoping to land a new job right before my severance kicked in. As it stands right now I may have to give my two weeks notice prior to actually getting cut.

Dont give your notice before next Thursday! You could be leaving dollars on the table.

Accept the job and tell no one. Maybe you get laid off and it's no skin off your back. Maybe you get retained and can double dip off JnJ for a while.

With all thats going on I don't think you owe them anything. Especially 2 weeks notice.

I think we're missing one MAJOR fundamental issue right now & it's that we have a moron in the White House right now. You can hate JnJ all u want, but our fearless leader is cutting into our company's profit margins and jobs w/ this 2.3% medical excise tax taking affect come 1/1/2013.We are not some small mom & pop company selling one or two niche devices. If we keep on this same path with this current president in office, the situation is only going to get worse. It's only getting worse boys and girls. The JNJ's, Medtronics, Stryker's etc of the world aren't going out of business, but we're all taking a HUGE hit somewhere (like our jobs) Let's go Romney!!!!

I totally agree. Obama needs to get out now. Higher taxes, less jobs...the country and medical companies are going bankrupt fast! Vote 4 MITT!

Romney would be great for our industry and has potential to pull the US out of the rut we are in. I wish Obama could have done more for us but in the end he has failed on many fronts. It is time for a change and if Romney cannot turn it around we will vote him out too!

F%$@'d-I'm hoping to get displaced

So anyone else find it interesting that Prineo and SS were moved to baseline because they were new products? What about Dermabond Advance??

Definitely took it in the balls when moved from quota to comp..anyone else?

If Mitt were running J&J, 50% of you (if not more) would already be out of jobs. Don't step in a pile of Mitt!
