This defines Labcorp to a Tee

Just because I'm comfortable and happy that makes me lazy?. I guess I should find a high risk job that might pay more. I guess it's better to work 12 hour days and into the weekends. I guess I need more stress in my life. If you think you have to buy a doctors business then you obviously suck as sales rep. It's about timeliness, listening skills, creativity and being liked. In my world about 70% of the patient base can go to Quest LCA and or a hospital. Don't think for a minute that my position doesn't matter. I'm at a point in my life where I simply don't need $250+. Yes I wish the comp plan was more reflective of my true sales. No doubt there are too many service tasks. I have a real job. Because I am happy with my life I can deal with all the BS this job throws at me. Maybe you outta get your life straight and then look at your employer. Remember WORK is a four letter word. It's Friday and I am currently debating on whether I need to work today or go pick apples. I love it. Lazy....I don't think so. Just smart as hell and happy.

I don't have a dog in this fight but you did just say you aren't lazy, however you are debating between picking apples or working!?!? Seems like you made the person's point.... keep picking those apples and roll the dice when the callidus comes out! Real "sales" work right there.... What a joke

Amen

Point is management doesn't have a clue and people are being overworked and are underappreciated. Depends on your dept and what umbrella you are under. Let's not forget your location plays a part too. Open your eyes to what is really going on here.

Oh management has a clue.. They know exactly what they are doing because they know people are scared to leave their jobs or know they have no where else to go. Therefore, they pile on the work no matter what your title is. One day you are a kae, sme the next, cust service phone rep the next etc.. They have no organziation that matches the title's roles. They should juat reclassify the titles to a one size fits all. Obviously, the companybis making money so they dont care now. Lets see if it works long term though

What else is new? This is been going on for quite a while. I really dont understand why people stay at this place. The majority of labcorp is run the same way getting orders out of burlington. Sure, you could have a cool manager here and there or you could have a favorable territory and the job isn't so bad. But for all the bad principles labcorp runs by and the crappy management as whole, i really dont know why people work here. I have seen the good territories and those people get treated like gold. I have seen the bad territories and those people get treated like crap. Good because of built in advantages and bad because of built in disadvantages. Its not the person most of the time, it is the territory and if labcorp doesnt adapt and adjust the goals and expectations differing between the two, you are always going to have this animosity amongst reps and towards the company.

Very true. As a whole, Lab Corp is full of used cars sales people. There are a few good ones but for the most part the island of misfit toys. Upper management is a complete mess no matter where you look. Territories are indeed everything as I've seen Gem Club winners who couldn't sell crack to an addict who just got their welfare check. Of course, I'd like to get out of this hell hole but I'm stuck in this nightmare. Recruiters ask me why I've been with this joke of a company....all I can say is you're right. Time to have another cocktail and smoke some crack.

Very well said. For all these cheerleaders talking about labcorp and their job. Go ask recruiters what they think of the company and your job and if it is transferable outside of diagnostics? Most recruiters usually say, i don't know much about what you do, the industry, or the company. All they know is it is a large corporation. It carries no clout in the medical sales field. Sure, you can sell yourself as i have to get out but you are up against alot of difficult questions/barriers. Keep at it man, i got out just last week as an SME. Got into med device with a spine company. It wasn't easy and took a year and a half. It would be one thing if i was at a shitty job selling copiers or payment systems and every recruiter loved it. Then it would be worth it. This was the exact opposite of that.. This was a horrible experience and i actually think i went backwards in my career intelligently and mentally. I was setting up accounts, basically doing data entry, fixing billing issues and linking IT people up. And f'ing sending in a million paper forms! I hate to sound so negative but this job sucked big time. Company wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't good

Pass the pipe please.

I was about to pound a 6'er before bed.. I think i will go with a half bottle of jameson.
Hoping i wake up from this nightmare in a better place. Most likely i will wake up with a splitting headache and 75 service related emails and phone calls

Buddy when you are my age pickin apples beats hard work. This job is perfect for me. My husband just retired. We carry these benefits and I still pull in a decent check. The only hard work I have to look forward to is playing with my grand kids. Management and this crazy comp plan allow me to get away with doing nothing!

Sweetie, I see you. This doing nothing bit is over.

Seems to me this place needs an overhaul in senior leadership. We need to get away from doing the same damn things we've been doing for years and let the people who are successful show you a thing or two. Too much ego in the way is preventing us from taking this group to another level. Win the business and grow fast - it's great but if you don't have the right ppl you are setting yourself up for failure. Happy employees are willing to put in the time and will give you 50-60hr work weeks you are going to need, without questions. When your employees don't get the recognition or opportunities, morale drops, we can only maintain the same level of engagement for so long. I personally don't care for way awards or recognition because they mean nothing to me at this stage in my career. It's the ppl that are doing the work, they are the ones who make this business, come in on Saturdays, and make things happen. Why aren't we trying to grow from a 2.5/3 star rated organization to a 5 star and put the emphasis back on our people where it belongs. I've seen what I consider some of the worst business decisions made this yr. and it's going to cause you to lose some really great talent.

The problem with labcorp is everybody and their brother thinks they are a freaking manager! I have some nit wit calling me from INtegrated oncology telling me what to do, the litholink rep doing the same, the old genzyme reps, my own manager, his manager, the person in cust master, some other yahoo from cust service, the SDE, the accountable care rep, the FQHC rep, some new accountant.. It never ends! And they think they can tell me what and drop everything else i am doing. This place is nuts! I feel like that dude in the movie office space and have 8 different bosses calling me about TPS reports

This company isn't interested in paying for experienced managers who are capable of making a decision or critical thinking. It doesn't fall in line with their do as I say culture, and any experienced manager would not stick around or tolerate being undermine in a culture where not only they are not in an atmosphere to grow and evolve professionally, but there is no opportunity for your team to either. You just hope you can get them compensated, keep them challenged, and you can get in the field and really work with them and develop them. They are so frustrated and unhappy they don't even want to stay. The dumb decisions from young managers that have no clue have to cost the company more than hiring a good experienced manager. But then there is that culture problem that still would have to be fixed. At some point there won't be any labs to buy and You would think they would have to look at sales and the lack of them across the board.
