Seasonal Contract Position

Approval for this drug is "by December" according to press stories. So does start date get pushed back or do we sit around after training waiting for this thing to happen? This could be why it's a contract with big territories for 6 months. Low risk. Are we going through this process for nothing?

What experienced rep wants to make $42,000 per year with no health insurance for 5 or 6 months?
A rep who already has insurance through their spouse will take this job....working with a kick ass manager, 6-7 months, no samples? This drug is going to be written like there's no tomorrow! I have a car, I have insurance in starting in April/May I'll be driving to stay with my brother at his beach house. Done deal.

100 yrs ago there was a worldwide pandemic of influenza and experts at the WHO believe this is the year for another outbreak. If that plays out to be true treatment will be longer than 7 months as we already know flu can present 12 months not just 6 and 7. So considering risk factors of how spreading actually occurs: human to human in addition animal to human, airborne transmutation... don't fly this year Genetech realizes the risk of losing people. A seasonal job should work for me as I have no expenses accept health insurance.

I had my virtual interview Friday afternoon. Basic going over resume and then five STAR questions. Hiring DM was the typical VERY conservative, robotic individual. Ick. I am certain he is a great manager, but whoa. Anyway, I had been told that the training would be entire month of October, now it’s two weeks home, one week launch meeting in LA. He also said that going into f2f phase, they will have 3/4 people for EACH territory and then will narrow it down. How are they finding that many people that this gig will work for?!??! I’m getting a little more skeptical as the process continues. Wishing everyone that’s interested the best of luck!!! It could be a great gig!

Thank you for the details! Did it last an hour? When did you get your meeting link (still haven’t gotten mine...). Which STAR questions were asked?

That’s crazy about narrowing it down to one rep for each (apparently huge) territory. Sounds like a recipe for disaster...

Thanks for the great information. Can we back-up with the time line?
So just to confirm …

1. Your interview was with a DM … and not an Ashfield recruiter? (Knowing that will tell some of us where we are along the timeline of the hiring process.)
2. Phone screens done by: 9/14th, F2F by: 9/21st, Offers go out starting the week of 9/24th.
3. First day of employment: October 8th. (I guess that’s the start of the two weeks of home study) … which puts us up to the week of October 22nd for the launch meeting in L.A..
4. Question to ask is; How many reps nationwide?
I too wish all still interested the best of luck.

5 of those childish STAR questions? “So, tell me about a time.....” Not worth it. I’m not going to put up with that bs. I’m going to interview them, if it goes south quickly I’ll make it memorable for them. Come on, it’s a little seasonal job. Don’t interview me like it’s the best job in the world.

Robotic STAR questions, 3 to 4 people, then narrow it down....for this $40k part time gig? I’m out.

I had my virtual today. 3 star questions and went over resume. Interviews are no more than an hour because they are back to back all day. The recruiter sets the time & day for the interview with the hiring manager. If you spoke to a recruiter and did not get a time & date then I would say you are not moving forward. The territories are huge and not what I was expecting.

My virtual interview lasted a full hour. No earthly idea whether I will get moved on, as I wasn't exactly vibing with the DM. I think I killed it with the stupid STAR questions, but no way to know what they are really looking for with this thing. The STAR questions were mostly adversity-based...how you handle challenges. Do ya think this means they are thinking this could be a little bit of a stretch???

Same stupid adversity questions with me. Tell me about a time you had a conflict with your manager or with a coworker how did you handle that? I felt like saying I’m having a conflict with you right now. This guy was about is dry and boring as you could get

I asked about the territory geography it’s huge so I told him I didn’t think that was going to work with me I was going to have to bow out and he was shocked. You mean you don’t want this job you don’t want to MoveOn in the process? No thanks. He couldn’t believe it he acted like this was the most high paying job in the world. Are these people zombies or something
