Seasonal Contract Position

The recruiter at Ashfield, Jessica, is very professional and efficient. Everything she told me would happen did, and in a timely manner. From start to finish, it was about 3-1/2-4 weeks. I have been very impressed with Ashfield so far.

Have you already completed your virtual interviews? The furthest I’ve seen someone get so far has been filling out the candidate profile sheet.

The virtual is with the hiring mgr on Skype. Not sure what happens after that because it keeps changing. I was told that territories will keep changing as mgrs see fit. So yes, you may see more territories added online. This will take time so have patience.

ok, just got a call from the recruiter that has been aol for 3weeks. They added 3 more territories in my area! My interview is next week. New will be less driving and smaller territories.

What questions do we need answered?
Will COBRA be available? Cost?
Can we file for unemployment?
Day to day expectations.
Pay, car allowance. Any days off available?

Not sure how they can expect no one to take a day off for 6 months? The type person who is going to take this job is one who has kids or wants flexibility. Everything I have seen this product isnt getting approved until Dec even with the FDA fast track maybe November. They need to at least rethink some type normal time off for days worked. Before anyone says anything smart - everyone has to go to normal appointments, normal things happen.
Why not pay the bonus at the end of each quarter - keep reps motivated not end of the 6 months? How can everyone be quoted a similar salary when reps all have different experience? Again weird/wrong

Why aren’t they keeping a year round sales force supporting? A ER doctor asked. He said people get flu twelves month year even high peaks start September through about April and May.

FOr the person interviewing today can u ask manager where training is gonna was be part? If they expect working moms to take jobs we can’t leave for entire week because we have duties at home too!

Why don't they consolidate territories and hire one rep to cover more area=more pay? I don't think I can afford to entertain this position if they are going to pay so low and then not have insurance for 6 months. That is a no-brainer.

Welcome to the gig employment economy. They don't care about you. This is an experiment to see if this model is profitable. You are the white collar equivalent of migrant farm workers.

This model (seasonal rep) works for the client. No days off because you'll be off for 6 months so schedule your appts. & vacations then. This is how contracts works and it may not go 3 years like the recruiter is saying, again that is contract sales. 2 weeks home study & 1 week away training. Another week later on will be the launch. They have not decide where training is going to be right now. Start date 10/8 offers by 9/24 This job is not for everyone.

This set up of SEASONAL is definitely to the financial advantage of Genentech. They are testing this model to see if it is effective. They are saving a ton of money, no insurance, company car expense, no medical benefits or salary expense for 6 months. You the rep are bearing the burden.

If they don’t like it or think it’s effective they will cancel the program after the first go round.

My recruiter told me the geography of my territory.....crap!!! It’s huge. I’ll confirm next week. If he is correct, I’ll have to bow out. Way too much driving on my personal car.
