Here's some fun news. Apparently, there have been device reps sentenced to JAIL time for off label promotion. Now, this brings up the question that was asked on here prior. Are we approved in brain? I've read and re-read the indication language and well, I don't know that you can really stretch soft tissue and bone to include brain can you? I say this because when I was in training we were told absolutely NOT in brain. Was this because of licensing with Medtronic or indications? Don is not the guy to ask and I don't know who is.

Any thoughts out there?

Now, there is no need for that kind of language! But, it does indicate that you probably are immature and unpolished enough to fit right in at Salient. Well done!

As for comp, I don't know who you spoke to but, if they told you there was a salary range, they are lying to you. There is no "bonus" but, commissions that vary depending on the territory. Salary is 40k. This is the result of the new comp plan. They just cut salaries and boy, is everybody happy. Car is mileage only. Really lovely.

The FDA takes this stuff VERY seriously these days. If you are being asked to promote anything you think might be off label, and I agree with the above, keep all your documentation and correspondence on the issue. That includes training material, notes you took at the NSM during the presentation etc. Also of note, the surgeon that promotes off label use is at risk as well. Just foolish to present on an off label use even in a training setting. There are plenty of cases where this has come back to bite them.

Until you see something in writing where this is an approved use, protect yourself. Salient certainly will not if it ever became an issue. Given their history, they will throw you under the bus faster than you can imagine.
