Rep Pay Cuts

For those reps that are attending the meeting in Orlando, perhaps come together and raise your concerns to the sales leadership. At a minimum don’t sit and cheer for them as they take the stage. Maybe a bull-shit chant, or an ass-hole chant. Definitely no cheering.

What you need is a leader that isn’t afraid to speak up.

Get organized!

Organize is right! It needs to happen. Do not applaud, other than in breakouts that involve sales trainers, they warrant your respect. We know no one has the guts to boo Deaver and the like, but don't applaud, don't clap, silence is powerful. If they hire a motivational speaker, ask your self did they cut $15k or any kind of compensation for his/her 'performance.'? Why not use that to help pay the sales team? Any of that team building programs, how much did that cost to put together? The cost of materials, such as t-shirts, paper, ink. The soft cost behind putting it together? Think about it, it adds up, and it could have helped with compensation, R&D, etc... Also, ask yourselves how many RM's and higher have left? If not many, why? Obviously it's compensation. Should they say their getting a pay cut too, trust me, that's a lie.

Do not applaud. Let the silence become so loud that the stock holders here it. Let it affect their pocket book, because once that happens, trust me, change will then occur.

Don’t be silent if you have an idea on how to fix things. Speak up with what you think is best for the company’s future. Our clients and their patients demand that we look out for them. The local rep IS the company to them and the latest disrespect only damages that relationship and the service they will receive in the future. Is ZB really the company a doctor should trust with their practice and patients right now? How would leadership answer that question? After years of mistakes only the most loyal users remain, mainly because of great local support. What happens to that now?

What nobody wants (we hope) is another year of underperformance. What will it take to get growing? What type of comp plan would direct winning behavior?

Silence for the meeting. If leadership really wants to know how to right this ship, they need to humble themselves and ask us, as we represent both ZBD AND our customers in a way that they only pretend to understand*.

* a big giant eyeroll for every time I hear someone get up on stage and say "I carried a bag." Well good for you, because we carry iPads now, and things have most certainly changed.

Just remember team. Should a manager have the conversation in a group setting or one on one that you are expected to applaud and participate, and forces you to come up with questions to ask at the sales meeting, they are violating your 1st amendment right to free speech. DO NOT let this bully tactic scare you. It's your right to express how you wish to protest. They are not going to fire the masses, trust me. IF they did that, the street would here about it as well as doctors. Trust me, they're incentive on their end to keep this 'in-house.'

As for the poster mentioning "not to be silent" and to "speak up," you're either an AD or higher. Just know, this salary cut was either presented by the Dental board of directors or push down from the Zimmer Boad. Either way, do you really think that by opening your mouth at a meeting is really going to change things. You would be thought of as a virus. They know, believe me they know, what they did has been done before many of times. They didn't care if you liked it or not, get out if you don't like it.

Lets be realistic Zimmer Biomet wants to get out of the Dental Business. By lower lowering the salary of employees the bottom line looks better and the purchase more appealing. Perhaps Dr. Niznick will buy the company back for cents on the dollar? This company needs revamping from the top down.

Guys and gals if you think silence or any type of organized response will make a difference you need to get your head checked. All it will do is label you a dissident. Play the game and find a better company to work for. I know the dental implant field is a great one, but life is too short to waste on these morons. Its been a sinking ship for a long time. Dont get mad at anyone - its a machine run by big zb and they simply dont care. Get that through your head. Its sad and it sucks but thats the reality. Ive been here more than 13 years and have finally made the decision to get out. 2 interviews scheduled already. Do it.

The fact that this leadership ( if you want to call it that) had the balls to wack $15K from every one of us blows my mind. No-one and I mean NO-ONE in the industry does that unless they want to cause a revolt and have a mass exodus. $15,000 times 200 territories equals $3 million savings with the stroke of a pen. Now watch as half of the TSRs will leave and they will only backfill probably half of those territories, expand the dirt of the other ones which saves them another $3-4 million. This is a money grab either to: A. Pad the pockets of this shit-brain upper management team (yeah you...BD) by allowing them to hit the 2019 top line number easier or B. Making the company more attractive to be sold. Either way we get FUCKED! But hey… Put that smile on and come ready to role play! Get bent! LinkedIn here we come

Here's an idea: instead of bitching and complaining about the shitshow going on right now, use the Deaver-induced dumpster fire to your advantage:

1) Simply stop making sales calls and only take orders/handle customer issues/questions over the phone.

2) Find a side hustle while you and rake in the Zimmer bi-weekly paycheck/benefits as you make additional income. It's what I have done for many years fam.

3) MAKE THEM FIRE YOU! You will get a very large severance, especially if you have been here for a number of years. They are required to offer you a severance if you are terminated for any reason other than theft, fraud, etc.

Work smarter. Not harder. :)

You're welcome,

Mr. Awesome

Im sad to hear what's become of my former employer, Zimmer Dental. I have lots of fond memories of my colleagues and my time there.

I do want to share some information that was passed along to me a few years ago. I worked a territory adjacent to BD (pre-merger) and found myself at a social engagement with his in-laws. His brother in law was a super nice guy, our wives had mutual friends, and we spent a couple hours enjoying the event and babysitting our overserved wives. Ultimately, the discussion went to work, and I noticed an odd smile cross BIL's face when I shared what I did. He didn't hesitate to tell me what he thought about BD. He said "make a list of everyone he knows - coworkers, customers, friends, family, competitors. Put everyone in the list, and know that's the list of people BD will screw over to get ahead. Don't ever trust him, but try not to cross him either. He's ruthless, and not in a focused, driven warrior way. He's selfish and bitter and vindictive and if you cross him, he will never forget, and he will do all he can to make you pay."

Obviously, that's paraphrased, but it's the jist of what was said. It was really kind of awkward, and it changed the tone of the rest of the night. Dude obviously had some pretty harsh feelings.

You guys do what you have to do, but be careful. BD is not someone to mess with.

No one cares about hitting the number. We care about being paid. That no longer happens at ZB. No one cares about walking the stage. No one cares about some stupid crystal trophy that I have put in the airport trash can a half dozen times. We care about being paid. Deaver and his frat buddies have taken that from us and our families.

We are successful. We keep this embarrassing company afloat. At least we did.

Wow! Terrific leadership skills.

Hey Brian Hansen, Board of Directors, and shareholders:

This is the type of inspiring leadership the dental division has been blessed with for the past 5 years. If you want to make a real positive change, restore rep pay and get rid of the frat boys that lead this division.

Word on the street is ZD is hiring an external candidate as the new GM. No doubt this person will be just as much of a retread as all the frat boys hired from inside the company.

By the way, who is this Pedro guy? What is he being paid to do?

"A passionate and committed customer-centric sales and marketing executive leader with a demonstrated track record of strategically generating profitable revenue growth."

BD's LinkedIn certainly reads that he's looking for a new gig. Can we start a gofundme to get him headed in the right direction (anywhere but here)?

Word is that the frat boys are turning on Deaver. Stay tuned!
