Rep Pay Cuts

Half of the posters on this thread are reps who know they don’t have what it takes to hit their number. The other half are former reps who left the company or were fired and wish they there were still here.

The ZB opportunity is alive and well - make a good living and have a hell of a lot of fun doing it. If you can’t take business from the losers at Nobel and Straumann, a little base pay cut is the least of your problems.

Forget the rebellion - come to the sales meeting ready to learn.

Learn about what????? Backorders that continually happen, a synthetic plug, and lousy education programs...... all set!!

People,

ZB couldn’t sell the dental division because payroll was an obstacle to a potential buyer.

Take the cue, a RIF will be next to trim payrolls for a potential suitor.

Nope. ZBH turned down an offer that was greater than the internal value of the division. Like the idiots at the helm of dental, they decided they had undervalued the division and refused to accept the deal.

Now, I mlght accept trimming expenses as a way to inflate value, but no suitor has objected specifically to payroll.

You have no idea who is on this thread. I am not a current rep or a former rep. I am a Regional Manager and I’m pissed about these changes and how hard it is making my job.

The only person you know that Is on this thread is you.

By the way, if you are learning anything at the sales meeting then you probably were under qualified when we hired you. Don’t feel bad, everyone we hire now is under qualified. They have to be or they won’t accept the comp plan.

Godspeed Rebels.

Either way the poster above you is correct. This has everything to do with making the company more attractive for a potential suitor. Deaver is just being told what to do and say. A RIF is next until they sell off the division. Of course they will wait until after the sales meeting. Good luck everyone.

You are making a lot of assumptions and giving Deaver a lot of credit here. Deaver is a puppet, but that doesn’t excuse his incompetence. If a RIF is coming, why would they wait until after the sales meeting? They would save a lot more money by executing the RIF prior to the extra travel and meeting costs.

There is no buyer. That ship has sailed. This is just classic undervaluing reps, mismanaging resources, leadership power trip, and misreading the market by inexperienced and incompetent leadership. Perhaps my $15k will go to solving the constant back order problem. Funny that Deaver tells us that backorders are gone when my accounts still can’t get an impression coping.

Or drills or hand drivers.......it’s unfortunate but you will see 50% of the sales force leave like they did in 2017. The sales meeting should be “Won’t compete, Never connected, conquered updated my resume!”

Why? Why why why do we constantly over-promote into leadership roles? Can't anyone figure out that we need some EXPERIENCE and some reasonable, seasoned top brass? Naah, let's just promote our little frat bros. Keg stands and cigars all around!

(I'm sooooooooo over this shit. The sales meeting promises to be especially painful this year.)

More drills on backorder today. But don't worry doc, just buy these implants, today, so I have some chance at paying my bills. We'll worry about making your money next quarter.

Damn, I hate feeling desperate around my customers, but I have to say, this pay cut has really proven to me that I have some true friends out there amongst my specialists. I really do love this industry, and I really do loathe the company I work for. Pathetic.

The same products and strategies that you ridicule are being used by the strong reps to crush their number year after year.

I guess you can’t spell “sucks” without “U”.

Yawn.

I don’t think the “strong reps” are able to ship back ordered items any more than the rest of us mere mortals.

As far as spelling goes, you just spelled sucks without “U”. So I guess it can be done? Unless you meant to type sUcks. I know it can be hard to type when you are emotional. It can be hard to sell too. Losing money makes a lot of us emotional.

Legacy Zimmer-
We work hard to increase our base salary over the years by merit increases based on hitting our sales numbers. Now Deaver swoops in and arbitrarily snatches those years of merit increases away from us which we earned.

Legacy 3i-
Merger comes and they take away your earning potential by cutting your commissions from 5% on dollar one to .5% on dollar one. Don’t worry we will increase your base salary. Now they pull your salary increase back away from you and but don’t restore your commissions.

Either way this company has snatched $25k - $50k from everyone of us. The only people not affected are the under qualified new hires.

This leadership team sUcks. Now this division sUcks. Deaver is the big snatch.

Wow! Terrific leadership skills.

Hey Brian Hansen, Board of Directors, and shareholders:

This is the type of inspiring leadership the dental division has been blessed with for the past 5 years. If you want to make a real positive change, restore rep pay and get rid of the frat boys that lead this division.

What needs to happen foremost is admitting that the implants are antiquated. There's been so much advancements since T3 was launched, and even that implant wasn't special. Do away with the connection, and simply start over. Followed by getting away from the Zimmer Ortho umbrella. That will help with revamping educational demands of top accounts servicing their referral GP market. Webinars are fine, but can't be the #1 option. Then, open up that dusty wallet and begin spending on R&D and your customers, followed by paying for talented sales reps. Value those that were loyal to the organization and were once performers. They obviously know more than training and hiring a payroll/enterprise guy. Last, slowly turn over leadership from the RM level to the area directors. Hiring young guys into top leadership position to have serious top level conversations with adults over the age of 50 just not going to hold water , especially when they have absolutely nothing to offer at the moment.

This will take 2-4 years to do, especially the re-birth of a new implant. But it has to start somewhere. Look for massive layoff/attrition, and simply hit that reset button. This ship has been sinking since the NT failures, recalls, the denials, the poor R&D, continuous turn over of marketing, and honestly, ever since the sanctions by the DOJ.

Or, they can simply hope everyone there would be serious attrition by the new comp plan because an acquisition or spin-off is the easiest way out. My money is on a spin-off. Easiest way to generate revenue to accomplish what I mentioned above.

My Family and I thank you for cutting my Salary with no real notice.
We also thank you for making us cancel our trip to Disney this year
Although it is possible to make more if you kill it you took away that 15k right up front which in my mind was highly Unethical
Oh and by the way to all the reps. You won’t actually make up any of that money till 2020 when all the magical kickers and yearly bonus are paid out
I hope you understand that

That's total b.s. It's their way of saying, get the f out of here. And, if you were to actually hit, you going to have to wait to get paid, so hang around which will only delay that non-compete from kicking in. Seriously, anyone worth their self respect who thinks there's a future there has got to call the EAP service they offer on their benefit package.
