Reclast the facts

...and she will get even sicker with Reclast since is another bisphosphonate. Powerful drug with powerful side effects!

There is so much misinformation on this tread it's hilarious. Please refer back to the guy at post #20. It sounds like he actually has sold IV bisphosphonates. IV being the operative words here. All the oral drugs you people are selling are not even close to being as potent as Reclast. Plus Reclast's safety profile is extremely well understood. If it's safe enough to give to patients w/ cancer every month, with "manageable" side affects, doesn't common sense tell you that a little more of the same drug 5mg vs 4mg given once a year will be even safer.

Reclast reps with half a brain will do very well with this drug depending on quotes. Anyone with PM Osteo is a candidate.

I agree with the above poster. This is a great drug and anyone who comes on and is negative is obviously a competitor just looking for some information.l
They only wish they had a drug with such great efficacy and that is paid for by Medicare B. No worries about tiers or Medicare D.
I do think it will take a bit of time for this to catch on as PCP's are not used to sending the patient out for infusions for a drug but once all the pathways are clear and once the avg consumer finds out about this, the Drs will have no problems with this.
Look if Dr's are RXing Boniva cause "patients want to be on Sally Field's drug"
when the drugs efficacy is quite questionable, then reclast will be a no brainer

Then why that "little more" is found to cause abnormal heart rhythms?

Get your fact straight buddy. Reclast never have been shown to "cause" abnormal heart rhythm. For one, the whole class is being observed for the next year . The FDA found no link between Reclast and if it had it would have had a precaution, warning, contraindication. It has none of these.
Think of the age of the patientsl. It was a fluke in the study and if that's all you have to sell against you will be shooting yourself in the foot if it comes out as a class effect down the road.
FAce it this drug is here it stay and will steal business from the ever desperate Actonel and Boniva reps. Feel sorry for you when Fosamax goes generic in Feb. I have sold against a generic and its not fun.

And ONJ isn't anything serious? What about GERD? Renal Failure? Whatever. Funny how Reclast is the last bisphosphonate to be manufactured. All the new bone agents are like Evista (SERM.) Wonder why?
You mindless twit - Evista has been floating around Lilly labs for years, they couldn't decide if it worked or not and it was a breast cancer drug that they figured out made bones denser. As far as GERD goes, of course you do realize that patients don't get GERD from an intravenously infused drug, you must be stupid, stupid, stupid.

Bravo - I am poster #20. IV bisphosphonates avoid all the GI issues and despite their potency side effects are pretty mild, they enter the bone compartments and work there but are not readily available to cause systemic toxicity. Much of the hubaloo about osteonecrosis was related to monthly IV bisphoshonates for lytic bone lesions, very different scenario that taking the same drug once-a-year for post-menopausal osteoporosis.

How do you reimburse for Reclast, prices, codes etc? i've been getting a lot of hits on my website looking for that info from hospitals and i imagine smaller offices too but i can't see those names... can you tell me what are the codes you need to use? what is the general procedure? or if you can point me to a site where i can find it..THANK YOU!

Check medicare websites - there should be a J code for the drug and a procedure code for the infusion.

Two weeks ago I received the reclast infusion at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. They billed my insurance - Blue Cross and Blue Shield $6,363.16 for the medicine. The entire procedure was billed at $6,555.07. It has been paid by my insurance, however my share is $966.52. Needless to say I have contact the drug company for a investigation and will be contacting BCBS as well. I suffer from pagent's disease as well as Osterporosis but I know I can't afford this treatment.

Thats the friggin medical centers fault not Novaris. Although you should have known what your copay was before the infusion shouldn't you have.
Most of the patients Ive heard are paying no more than $250 unless there is a hugh deductible for commercial plans.
If the bill was $6555 how does that figure to $966. 20% would be $1300
Not sure who you are or what you need but the answers are not here

She/he was probably a patient IN the hosptial and not out patient. That can change the cost considerably as a patient IN the hospital. That may be one reason. Just a thought

I am only 44 and interested in the Reclast Shot. I have been to Drs for years and in pain daily. 4 Drs dx me with fibromyalgia and I have DDD and 3 bulging disc and arthritis and right on the line for osteoporsis (mother has severe) They recently found that I have a Severe Vitamin D deficiency which could cause all my pain. I have not went through menopause which causes more loss of bone density. I can not take Actonel, Fosamax and Boniva due to bad reflux problem among alot of other health issues.

I want to know all info I can about Reclast. My doctor is trying to find someone that gives it in this area and if insurance will cover it Thank you

Reclast bypasses the GI tract. It is a once a year 15 minute iv. It works so well because it is 100% bioavailable where as the orals are less than 1%. Unreal, I know. Also has the best vertebral fracture reduction at 70% or all the bisphosphonates on the market. Most insurances cover it, have your doctor to a medical reimbursement investigation form for you so you can see how much it will cost you. 61% of Reclast goes to the bone and 39% excreted through the kidneys within 24 hours, this is why they check your creatnine clearance before you get it done. Once a year and done in 15 minutes. This drug is 100% compliant since you get it correctly, don't have to be standing up first thing in the morning and taking a pill with plain water and waiting a 1/2 hour. Reclast best drug out there for osteoporosis for sure!

Who/Where are the reps/territories that are succeeding well with Reclast? How do rankings work and payout? Worked in CV for a while and just don't see much Reclast info in my territory.

There may be many different targets for Reclast then for CV ie..OBG, Rhums, endo Reclast is paid on district level with district goals so basically everyone in a district is making the same amount on Reclast. SO the difference will be on other products

Well, sure hope ALL are working if District pay is not related to individual performance.....talk about screwy. But CV aint much different with 6 reps all in similar product payout/ranking.
