Pharmacyclics is hiring...

It is a gamble maybe it pays off maybe it does not more often it does not. I think I am staying I got the call talked to some people but I like Genentech it took me awhile to get here and I think the days of getting rich off options is over. Just my opinion. Plus my options now look pretty healthy.

No the stock plan can be seen by clicking on the link. That's why I provided it.

Funny about the supposed salaries. Given that companies are in business to make as big a profit as possible, you have to ask yourself, "why would any company pay a rep $25K more than they're making now, when they could get the same rep or equivalent rep for $8 - 10K more. I mean it's not like there's a shortage of us out there. I know, I know, "best of the best", right.

Only problem is, they've already demonstrated through some of their management hires that "best of the best" is clearly not the criteria.

Maybe the company's goal is to have the highest paid sales force in the industry. Now that make sense right? That's got to be it, they probably even have that on their slides of key success factors. lmao!

Small start-ups that need to hire an entire ready to go sales force need to pay a premium for the market knowledge and customer relations. You can easily loose millions in a launch phase with inexperience with the market. Very good reps from Genentech are not leaving to go there for an extra 10k, take that to the bank! B/c Ibrutinib has such a high market cap (billions) the money is there pal.
I would bet MC, RF, DR and KB would put you to shame in experience... who ever you are!

Companies are also in the business to bring in talented employee's and "retain" them! It's cost plenty to re-hire and re-train. The turnover on the Hem brand has increased dramatically in the last couple of years!

It's a gamble rf and mc can take the risk dr and kb had their reasons what you need to ask yourself can you take the risk that is the only real drug in their pipeline it is oral and will be expensive count on that oh by the way Celgene has a similar drug hope it does not turn into a competition with them ask the velcade reps about that. No follow on products no thank you I do not want to be a one hit wonder. The stock is not going any where but down you are getting late to the party the run up has already happened. So don't worry I will stay with the company with the best pipeline in the business. The grass is greener sure that is what everyone thinks but in two years I hope you are still riding high because you can't make any mistakes or have any safety issues or reimbursement problems or you are done. It is tough out there ask Lilly, Merck, AZ, any of the other companies. They have been losing money in Sunnyvale for years check the financials. You better not disappoint. Dendreon looked the same way now people cannot wait to get out. Have fun and don't let the door hit you in your ass on the way out.

No one is going to pay a bunch of "very good reps" $180K base, they might pay a couple of truly exceptional reps with high potential that much. Good luck if you go, the stock is at $79 now and it should run up a little going into ASCO, so your options will have a strike price north of $80. You'll likely vest in 1/3 of them in three years. DNDN was at around $43/share in May of '10, and three years later it's about $4/share.

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well do you, punk?

Any confirmation on the salary range and stock options Hematology ?

-I have heard $150K+ with strong hematology experience.
-Lots of stock options & employee stock purchase W/ 15% DISCOUNT!
-Same car allowance and milage reimbursement as Legacy GNE!

Pharmacyclics, Inc. PCYC Biotechnology 9.9 +24.50% $72.73

Why We Like The Stock:

Pharmacyclics Inc (PCYC) is our most compelling buy today due to the fact that it is a top rated stock (in terms of earnings strength and company/industry performance) with a positive technical set-up. Biotechnology has been hot this year, as evidenced in strong charts like Onyx Pharmaceuticals (ONXX), Seattle Genetics (SGEN), Medivation (MDVN), and the SDPR Biotech ETF (XBI). PCYC has been consolidating early 2013 gains since mid March after topping off around $95. Currently, the stock has been hovering above the $75 area and looks to be basing. This morning, PCYC crossed above its 5-day moving average. If now is the time that this Biotech stock turns the corner, we would absolutely be buyers at the current price. PCYC has an extremely high short-term upside to $95 (+20.8%), and with a tight leash at $75, the downside on this trade is limited. So long as it holds the $75 level on a closing basis, we would take a shot here with PCYC.
We Would Be Buyers:

Save your little Genentech bonuses and buy PCYC! It's a 3-4 year hold for the most return.

Actually heard they may hire some with little/no Onc experience who are hungry and go head to head with "fat, dumb, happy" DNA reps

Little or no Onc experience, knowledge & relationships = useless!

Get that experience (Hematology preferred) somewhere else and check back in 5-6 years with your performance results.

The one common theme that I've seen in this business over the years is that everybody thinks no one else can do their job. This belief holds particularly true in Oncology and other specialties. Not only is it not true, it's pretty funny to me that anyone can post this and really believe it. I went straight from primary care to Oncology, and the only hard part about it was dealing with the people in the organization who had been in Oncology for so long they thought they knew everything.

So true. I remember when Avastin reps used to think they were the only smart ones in town. Then came all the other bioonc ones who could so the job just as well and even better - because of less arrogance.

Still oncology is an arrogant field throughout the chain. They make everything sound so complex and esoteric, but when you learn it you realize it is not that difficult. Lots of trial and error, and combinations and permutations of a few very basic concepts.

Know some primary care reps who in a year not only learned their jobs in Oncology but thrived.

Just stick with your antibiotics and foot fungals. The expectation is higher, Pharmacyclics doesn't have to take chances with primary care reps without onc experience and relationships!

Yeah Champ, Ibrutinib looks like it's going to be a tough sell. Your experience and relationships are going to make all the difference. After all, no one would ever have touched a vial of Rituxan without you, right?
