Pfizer avg Salary 91k ranks 48th %tile

91k is awesome money and Pfizer reps need to be glad they are 49th percentile at almost 6 figures a year & stop being envious on other company's reps making double at 200k plus.
You are still in top 5% nationally in pay.

Agreed and like was stated, it’s not only what you make but what you do with it.

Very true! I have family who own businesses that make millions a year. One 10mil a yr manufacturing oil parts but i am more wealthier as i ve been investing last 20 yrs in stock (apple Fb goog amzn first few yrs & held) as well as real estate rental properties. (And he doesnt save just spends on things )
I make 10% of what some of my family makes per yr but over 20yrs I am millions more wealthier.
Agree 1000% it is NOT how much you make but what you invest with & as important what you spend it on.

$91k..... i dont care if 49th % of industry.
$91k is way overpaid for Pfizer reps not in Oncology. Other than Oncology , Pfe reps are marketing robots with Madison Ave slides and 30 second canned message said over over over over again until next POA when marketing has new canned 30sec message.
Outside of Oncology when was last Pfe rep any division pull out actual clinical study and technically discuss science w doctor for a month, or even a week--- hell just 1 full day?
NEVER
Oncology does and nobody else because Pfizer is ran by marketing VP & Dir of Marketing.
And stock price reflects that lack of technical science impact with the stock negative -25% over 20yrs! Total joke of co & 90% reps.
(Granted it is what legal & marketing that has trained them to do so not their fault they are dine and dash reps)

Okay, I agree that Pfizer reps provide food and sound bites. Oncology reps may be brilliant, but they rarely have the opportunity to share their knowledge because Oncologists are basically "no see" as a class of providers. The reps may speak with the nurses or support staff, but they rarely have the opportunity for deep discussions with Oncologists.

Depends on the territory.

I am in Rare Disease for 15yrs and my base is 115k with bonus avg the past few years of 40k so total comp 145k. Not the 250-300k Biotech offers but I have solo terr with no stress and just 75 docs to call on at my own pace.
So while as a 15yr Pfizer rep with base of 115k , it is 25k more than Pfizer average salary so I am comfortable with that.

Sir, 115k+40k=155k, not the 145k you posted. Please stop with the common core math

Wow...nothing like rationalizing your mediocrity...$91k base, $115k base? You have got to be kidding me! That is just out of college chump change. My goodness man. Have some pride. People doing similar functionality making 2 to 3 times plus more than you and you are satisfied with that? Sorry man but if you are ok with that you must be dumb, lazy, and lack any self respect and self confidence. What you think oncology reps are killing them selves working? Man you all sound like such losers.

Well, while 45 million americans lose their jobs and other pharma companies are laying off their sales teams, Pfizer has continued to support us and until that ends, I will continue to support Pfizer.

Believe it or not, money is not the end all, be all for some people. I would rather work for a lower base salary with a company who supports me vs a company with a higher salary, little support, micromanagement, etc. Multiple people have stated they are happy here so why don’t you ride your Clydesdale Somewhere else

Hahahaha! What? Not saying money is the best all end all, but why would you want to do a job for a lot less money? Are you crazy or just dumb as Pfizer invented and perfected Pharma micromanagement! No support at other companies? How the hell would you know? BioOnc, orphan disease and high speciality companies have been doing amazing things during this time for their folks. No lay offs, no furloughs, pay the better of-at plan or better. No rush to get back into the field. You literally have no idea what you are talking about. Good, you keep doing a similar job for a 1/3 less money at a notoriously awful company. You must love the spoon fed direction. What a dolt! Are all Pfizer reps this stupid? I guess the handful of dopes who say they like working here are. Gee go out see an account or two a day and make $100k while dragging around a sample bag or go to a couple of accounts and make $300k a year. You clearly have very little insights and experience as you don’t realize that everyone not at Pfizer and most of those who are know that is sucks and has a terrible reputation.

And they will stay at 48th % tile in the industry.
Pfizer DOES NOT go after & hire the Best of the Best tenure successful reps w a wealth of knowledge that you MUST pay top $$ for.

Pfizer's model is hire younger new reps or reps w 3-5yrs experience. Across ALL Pfizer divisions except Oncology the avg age is in the 30s---- most under 40. (Oncology avg is 45-50).
So they can pay less and roll dice on retention preaching Pfizer Blue Loyalty.

Unlike Biotech, Start Ups & smaller niche companies were avg rep age is 45-55 with 20yrs of exp. Those companies have to pay BIG $$$$ & packages for that experience, expertise, success & relationships.

Summary Pfizer will NEVER be top 5%, 25% or even Top 1/3rd in pay--- They do NOT want to be a top paying co AND they do NOT have to be a top paying company.
Being 48% tile is perfect for their model and large size of employees that compensation is the biggest expense for Pfizer that they must manage & limit.

Totally agree...crazy why anyone would stay after 3 years. Onc pays well...for here, however it’s very low in comparison to other oncology focused companies. I know tenured oncology reps who left and got $30-$40k raises at their new companies just to get them close with the team average. The manager told them that! “Look you are going to get a big raises to get you closer in line with what we pay here. We can’t have you making $30k less than your peers...really can’t believe how low paying Pfizer is.” ANY big Pharma is a good place to start your sales career. If you don’t get out after three years you are making a poor career decision.

Yes, that's how you make money in the pharma/biotech world - moving every few years and being very choosy. It exhibits a mindset that is open to growth and new opportunities which flags you to recruiters and company HR departments will as a promising candidate. It's a process but one that works.

Exactly. Way back in the day “job hopping” was looked down upon. Now it’s wisely and widely sought after and commended. The tides have shifted and those who do not see it are being left behind. Again way back in the day it was great to get into a big Pharma like Pfizer, Merck, J&J, etc...then in the mid to late 90’s biotechs in highly specialized TA’s launched leaving big Pharma behind and making those new companies highly desirable to top talent...most of whom went on to make a fortunes. It it still happening and those who hang onto the big Pharma game are mediocre to bottom of the barrel. The times changed...big Pharma was caught flat footed.

Also back in the day companies had Pensions & you had to be at a co for 15yrs before Pension had any good value.
Now nobody has pensions so it is open season to look for better financial packages .
Also younger execs value more diverse job experience than at one co for 30yrs.
More jobs actually better well rounded today

Spot on.

Pfizer has factually told the truth that they are "Top 50% in the industry in compensation"
91k on average is Top 1% in the world so be happy being paid 6 figure w bonus to be a marketing robot with canned gimmick messages.
