I left a different Big Pharma company for one of the top biotech’s a few yrs back. Wish I had made the switch sooner.....had a big base (139k) and a bunch of restricted shares so I was reluctant....but division headed to the graveyard with patent liabilities so I needed to make a change. I just wanted to say this....I don’t work any harder now in biotech. I worked hard then as I do now. So it’s not wise to paint everyone with that brush. I’ve noticed some slackers over here as well.....and you know that’s true...it’s everywhere.

To anyone contemplating a move to biotech/Biologics.....do it (provided manager isn’t a lunatic). The pay and benefits is comparable to a Big Pharma manager comp plan. Restricted shares and all that Jazz....and usually with a much better culture. There is life after Pfizer. It took facing extinction for me to make a move. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner

So you come into the Pfizer board to act superior? You do not know my level of success and frankly that’s not relevant. I can tell you that my family and I do not want for anything and lead a very happy life.
When you have to tell the world of your accomplishments or successes, then insecurity and false sense of self is what shines through.
You can sell one of your fixer uppers to someone who needs it, I will however wish that you find true happiness in life as it is apparent that you are miserable.

See that last comment shows your below average mindset & Emotional Intelligence as you allow an "opinion" to get you emotional & highly successful people so not allow that thus you showed your colors & proved the point.

Not telling world anything about my success in Biotech or private business after leaving Pfe, just putting you in your place & saying it is ok to be average if that is what makes you happy. Nothing wrong w average as most people are. Main thing is to be happy & have fun. If you are then that is wonderful. Enjoy but dont put people down that have higher ambitions or strive for greatness as that is what might make them happy. So good for you & good for others for whatever level makes them HAPPY.

Simple economics. Pfizer is basically a Primary Care product with thousands of reps reading a marketing Madison Ave aid, dropping samples, being a caterer . The raw expense to pay 2-3 reps per terr & stock closets full of samples w a lunch every day is enormous. Thus the Model of a Marketing driven company pushing Share of Voice & calls. Its all the simplicity Big Pharma knows . So there is a MAX on what they will pay a rep being told to follow orders & be a robot.
Biotech on other hand, fraction the size w just hundreds of reps - not thousounds-- in solo 1 rep large territories calling on a select customer base with high science business solving model. Much lower expense, so they can pay the best of the best for top performance.
END RESULT: Pfizer 90k yr salary, (which is actually high for a Big Pharma PC company which is around 70k)
Vs Biotech 160-170k salaries which is what Big Pharma pay their Directors not reps.

Loved Simple Math--- basic math 101 & doesnt include compounding growth. Factor that in & 3-5million difference in career earnings is more like 5-7 million more for Biotech vs Pharma
JUST SALARY ALONE THAT IS DIFFERENCE OF $700K IN 10YRS, $1.4MILLION IN 20YR CAREER & THE FEW BIOTECHS WHO HAVENT RETIRED ON A PRIVATE ISLAND BY THEN, A 30YR CAREER A WHOPPING DIFFERENCE OF $2.1MILLION MORE IN CAREER EARNINGS OF BIOTECH OVER BIG PHARMA!
(throw few million of employee stock same period, and probably 25k yr more bonus, well over 4 or 5 million more in 20yr-30yr earnings)

Talking about theoretical guest houses, rental properties and pool houses you have etc... yes that is boasting of your successes . I know my worth and like I said you have no clue what I have or don’t.

The thing about an anonymous board is that you can portray yourself however you want, the bad thing is that people see right through those who lie, cheat or boast.

You won’t win an argument with me, I will keep it to a discussion and truthfully I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else.

Boy toy go see a counselor if you are worried about people judging you or your success, needing to spin religion into a emotional reaction. You probably voted for Trump also.

As a highly successful female in life who litterally grew up food stamps & voucher lunches in school to parlaying it into a Dartmouth MBA in my 30s then leveraging it into startups, equity ventures , and M&A; you have no leverage to question what someone deems as successful for themselves. Every person has a standard or success for themselves. Mine happens to be elevated above being just satisfied & comfortable.
Pfizer was a good company for me right out of college and paid for my first Masters at Duke. For that, I am thankful as it was a foundation which parlayed me to greater things my career and life.
This is my last post on this thread and as I said bedore: as long as you are at the highest level of happiness in life then that is all that matters regardless of what defines that for a each individual.
Be Happy not Angry or go see a professional as life is too short.

So, 91k is average. I don't care if it's let out....20 years employed. Base Salary 110k. You want something to laugh about? There you go. Notice the 91k is average. Why don't we be transparent here with Pfizer colleagues? What about some of you hired in last year? I'd bet you are below 91k base. Then some that's hung on for dear life and made the ole Pfizer a career, scared to make a move, like me, we are stuck with small base salaries relative to our experience. Maybe the Biotechnology isn't such a bad thing. Now I know some of you in California are way higher than 110k, or those working in areas with higher cost of living, maybe I'm just the regular Joe sucker with mediocre "get by" raises.

Hired on last year and higher than the average so you would lose that bet. The person stirring the pot is doing this on multiple boards he/ she obviously has nothing better to do and has an inferiority complex or was downsized from the pharmaceutical industry. I could care less what someone says on here it’s just words on a page

Know for a FACT if you hired in last year the absolute MAX salary with Pres & VP approval is 140k.
So set down you slim shady & get in back of the line of the big dogs. Spend that much a year on family vacations around the world-- you are minor leagues
