Osteomed Corp.

i am tired of all you douchebags making excuses for how shitty you are as salespeople!!!!

Just kidding, i agree with the reps, these mgrs suck and the sam program was such a joke. Walt really is a dumbass for letting Larry talk him into that one. Look at the positive side, poor Walt is probably shitting himself with these weak numbers. Maybe now they will give me back my trauma centers where we had no business anyway, that way they can up my quots for no good reason , yay osteomed.

yet another disgruntled employee

THX.

Larry did not drive the SAM deal it was Walt and Mktg. Walt did it and drove out a few of the decent mgrs they had left around that time as well. Larry never bought off on that strategy and ended up leaving for similiar reasons, ie Walt is clueless about where to take this company.

I remember Raaaaaj, not Melissa or the other gal. I wish them well.
I left OM 1.5 years ago and most everyone I know has left (great clue).
How can so many people have it wrong?...........they don't......Walt, with his
weak ass Longhorn eliteism should have never been tapped as president.
I truely believe he resents sales people.

Once upon a time it was "THE" place to work. Oh well, life goes on.

PS-Somebody tell Schmit and Deery to grab whats left of the life vests.

it is a joke to call corporate for product help...the engineers are fielding calls and it takes them hours to find an answer and have no clinical knowledge. bethel and lauren knew more....:)

How's Osteomed's Atlanta territory looking for Small Bone Orthopedic? What do people know about the Atlanta territory in general?

I would love to hear this answer as well. Does SBO sell CMF as well? So far what I have heard from very reputable contacts is:

OM has been through 2 sales reps in the past 3 years. Most recent rep left a few months ago and they are now hiring Assoc. and Rep. OM has inferior equipment and the size of the Atl territory is all of Ga with a few southern exceptions. How are you expected to run an efficient territory if you get a call from a doc in Macon needing your set and you are in ATL? And Macon would be relatively close in comparison to other cities in GA.

Currently in pharma, I am looking for something better, and from reading these post dating back since 06, pharma looks like a utopia compared to this company. However, getting into device, building some relationships with surgeons, and moving on may be an option with OM.

Thoughts?

y'all love dogging the O huh? We here at corporate are busting our butts for y'all and you guys/gals can't sell ice to a person in hell. Your numbers are the same as you - pathetic!! Senior management just finished meeting to discuss y'all and its pretty apparent we are in big trouble with a bunch of loser slackers like you guys/gals in the field.

Avery Dixon is a hardworking guy who does his job, nothing more, nothing less. Clean up your inventory and you won't be on hold. Stop dragging his name through the mud and actually go out and sell something for a change. There are about 10 reps in this company worth anything, the rest of you can go f yourselves.

We at corporate know about you guys/gals and we don't like you!

concerned employee

Holy crap! WTF are you smoking and pass some over here cuz I need a good laugh.

I've worked at the corporate office for a while and the problems are there for anyone with eyes to see them. Every few months a new batch of sales reps comes in for training. You watch this for a couple of years and you come to the realization that this is a company that treats its sales force so poorly that it has a overly high turnover rate. The senior management makes a good speech when the sales reps are around, but it's obvious that they think less of you than they think of lint on their shirts.

The posters on this thread are dead on, except in one point: Walt is not a micro-manager. He is a nano-manager. Also, he makes business decisions after hearing only one side (and adamantly refusing to hear any opposing arguments). Phil walks around like he's king of the place - a constant smirk on his face and a miser's fisthold on the purse-strings. Spooner is so exacting of expenses that it's a running joke that he charges "Spooner tax" to any additional costs that might improve the manufacturing process. The only people who've been there more than a few years who get any kind of "respect" are the ladies in Debur.

You will not see new innovative products coming out of OsteoMed because the VP of engineering feels that anything more than "good enough" is not "value-added". What a short-sighted fool.

When I first started with OM, it was a great atmosphere at corporate - everyone was so friendly and open. Now, people are too busy playing political dodgeball due to the "sh*t-rolls-downhill" policy of Walt and his cronies.

The sales force has lost some people due to a RIF (yeah, right) and will probably lose some more in the near future. I would have to say that OsteoMed's lifespan is dependent on how long Bob Pritzker is still breathing.

Oh yeah - I have no wife; mom is dead; blah blah blah.

Osteomed

I have recently started working at Osteomed CMF and and have read through pages and pages of negativity. I can say that my experience points to the following:

1) Osteomed has a huge turnover problem due to mis mangement from the TOP down for what seems to be a decade or so. I would agree that it is AMAZING that senior management have not been held accountable for the last 5 years of flat growth...TRULY AMAZING!!!

2) They have created a situation where they have created far too many territories that have too low $ volume's to be able to sustain and keep a rep motivated for long enough to actually grow the territory and earn the unlimited commission $'s that are available.

3) Half the territories at Osteomed CMF are good with potential and the other half need to be either a) combined with neighbouring territorries or b) given both CMF and SBO products to sell to get the dollars up to a decent level so that good commissions can be paid and reps have enough to be motivated to actually execute a 2 - 3 year business plan to allow them to stay at the company and grow the business.

Having said this, I have never worked for a perfect company with a perfect business model and perfect products. If you can sell and have a decent work ethic then Osteomed can be a very rewarding place to work...as aside from the President, VP Marketing and CFO (whose wreckless and ill thought out decisions speak for themselves) I have met a few of the other managers and they seem smart, experienced, motivated and pretty fair.

I have not personally met the new Director (Jim) but I met the new guy in Florida and the English guy and most of the sales support staff and I really liked all of them and they seemed like smart people who could get jobs at most companies

The bottom line is that I think that you could find easier companies that would allow you to "coast" for 6 hours a day and make 6 figures but if you have the work ethic then Osteomed is as good place as most mid sized medical device co's.

Im sure that this post will be met with disgruntled people who were either fired, or generally a bit sh*t at their jobs that tell me im off base or blah, blah, blah.

I would say to them that there efforts would be better spend taking a look inwardly...and before you say it, the only reason im at my computer at 3pm on a tuesday is that im already at quota this month and will make $18,000 commission and yes, im deliberately sand bagging my PO's...

You're full of sh*t. If you're a new rep then you'd be on the 40/10 plan. So, you sold 180k on the 2nd day of the month?? I think you meant to say youve made 18k in commission so far this year.

I've appreciate the input from everyone on this board and I have just recently decided to post. I interviewed for a position in the CMF unit through a recruiter. I'm wondering if the associate position was ever filled. I was told I would be offered the job once the new budget was approved. That was September 3rd. Neither myself, nor my recruiter ever received any feedback. I've heard the CMF unit is not at all a strong one, and judging from the rest of he posts here, not much of the company is doing well period. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.
