Re: Scenario opinion

I'm in a B2B gig now, and tracking to make $75K. I sold medical lasers back in 2004, for 1 year prior to opening my own business, and then cashed out and returned to B2B. I have an interview with OM as a CMF and Neuro rep. I saw tons of bad posts dating in 2009, and they come all the way up to today's date, but some people said "hard work." What is hard work? I, today, make 10 cold calls per week, 10 scheduled appointments per week... how many more sales calls will I be making in a job like this? More than 20? The manager I spoke with said the territory does $800K/year. Does that sound small or big? I don't know what to expect since I haven't sold medical devices in 6 years, and even then- it was lasers. Any advice would be great!

You sound like a douche...welcome to OM and your $185K territory!!! (Err I mean $800K...I can't even type that with a straight face!!!)

Why am I douche? I'm describing what the hiring manager told me. Your great at judging what people type, f*ckwad. Keep being unemployed and trolling this site... it's probably what you're best at...

Re: Scenario opinion

Who did you talk to? There's no open territories that do $800K a year. Looks like they pulled the ole bait-n-switch. Probably was Shawn Thompsen. That guy's a pathological liar.

I'll keep everything anonymous until the interview is over, but it's not an open territory. I'll get some more particulars and see what comes of it. It is the hiring manager's job to make it sound amazing, so let's see how much fluff was being given to it.

average territory at OsteoMed

CMF - $ 360k x 18% commissioin = $64,800
Extremity - $340k

Couple that with the worst management in the industry (and that is saying a lot because there are some bad companies out there). Is it worth it to work there? Only if you need to get into medical sales, put your 2 years in and get out. More so than any other company, that 360k could easily go to $0 through no fault of your own. It is very tenuous to work there. The management team (phil, walt, toby) are 3 baffoons. I don't even think they know what the company sells half of the time. They make the worst vp hires you could imagine and are as bad as you can get. Management threatens to fire reps and puts them on underachievers plan all the time. They fire people and don't realize that its not the reps its the lack of products and vision from the company.

it sounds like an associate position. their are a few reps with $900k+ territories who probably could use a little help. with that much business, it would be a good job because you would get a lot of O.R. exposure. i guess it all depends on what you are doing now and where you want to be in the future. probably make $60k with expenses, bene's, 401k....which is industry standard.

seriously...if you are taking over a territory that is 800k then that will be in the top 1-3% of the entire company and the very best that it will ever get to look for you at OM! Even then, I would STRONGLY advise you not to join them...not only are they managed by a bizarre and insecure loser (Jim C) it will taint your resume when you come to leave.

Even there best territory is still just '1 doc leaving you for a competitor' away from garbage!

have you tried Googling OM...all this negativity comes up and future employers check this stuff...it doesnt help get another gig. It is a serious concern and I am not hating when I say this.

Dont join...they are bargain basement and the management (Jim, KC, Danny, Steve, Walt , Phil , Toby) are amongst the worst that I have ever seen.

Seriously, how can these idiots continue to survive? Cavanaugh is such a loser, and he has surrounded himself with guys that can only strive to fall to his level of incompetence, and loathing. Does Jim still sit at his desk with his Marketing 101 book at his side, and craft those thesis proposals to Walt, Toby and/or anyone that will take the time and energy to read them? This guy really scares me, and to think that he's "The Best" that they could find? Now....what does THAT tell us? Whatever Jim is being paid, it's too much, and he needs to take the first surfboard back to Jacksonville!

Jim Cavanaugh, KC Mabry, and Their Team should resign immediately. I would like to start a thread which will instill this concept, and push for their removal, or resignation.

fire them because you can't sale? i bet your the person who blames everyone else for your shortcomings. your a loser! i would take any of those guys over your dumbass anyday.

I suggest that YOU, being the Loser that you are ( and you do know it yourself, when you rise in the morning, you know--and when you make that first sales call, everyone else knows it too!!), Just QUIT!

Jim, KC and his Team will resign, before they are FIRED--which WILL happen shortly. They'll all
have outstanding opportunities at Lorenz, (again), but must have their $'s settled. They can remain "loser's" @ BMET, but not on My Dime!

Let's move the Ouster forward with Speed!!!

Very Clever use of capital Letters and exclAMation pointS!!!!!!

When posting on cafe...read and then re-read what you write. If it sounds like a bunch of shit when it is read then re-write it. I hate reading garbage that sounds like it was written by a 3rd grader, you are perfect OM material.

Agreed: Termination Papers to be assembled and distributed this Bloody week, or I'm not Lord Corwall! JC, KC and Team should assemble their belongings, laptops, cell phones, and all personal items-in preparation for their dismissal!

Jim,
Just Man-Up and QUIT!

For the good of the Company.
For The good of the Team.
For the good of your colleagues.
For the good of the investors.

Quit now, and move on--again.

Investors?...Ummm...they're a privately-held company. Your at home posting on CF on a Friday? Two perfect examples of why OM fired your dumbass.

I wish people on here would realize how great of a company Osteomed is. Walt is amazing, Toby is as great as they come. They both hired Tina. Without Tina, Osteomed would not have the FPS system. Hands down the best system on the market. I would setup a meeting with Toby and just talk about the Hook plate. His knowledge of the Ortho market is second to none. When I first met Toby I thought he was as creepy as Scoot Spooner but no one is as creepy as he is. I'm trying to figure out why so many people at Osteomed hate it. Why??? Would anyone want to work for Synthes, Stryker or Medtronic. Just because those company's have everything a rep needs to succeed doesn't mean they are great. Oh wait...yeah it does. Sorry what was I thinking. All I have to do is look at the rust on the HPS instruments and then screws breaking on the FPS. How's the pilot drill working out again? Who was the idiot engineer who thought that would be a great size 1.6mm for a 2.7mm screw.

So I'm one of those people who might be a good candidate for this: looking to get into the market, currently unemployed.

One of the only good things I've seen in this thread is that SBO doesn't seem to be the big problem in this company, and that's the position I'm looking at in FL. Can anyone give some feedback on potential in FL markets for a small bone ortho rep? How are the territories here; it seems like most of the talk is about the west coast as opposed to the southeast. Will I have doctors willing to use my products, or will I be buried behind everyone else's? Anything else to share? thanks in advance

Former RM here, this company may offer starting med device noobs a way to get their feet wet but the comp plan is weak, the marketing support is non-existent and the product line is generally me too. They have a few nice products for the DPM market but nothing that stands out. Overall just a very negative working environment. It all starts with the brain trust (or lack there of) in Addison. Find something else, trust me.
