OBU GOALS?













It is obvious those who set goals have no idea what they are doing. My goal is continuously set higher and higher, which I understand, except the total dry eye in my territory has been decreasing steadily. In order to hit goal I now must do 50% more than my current volume and my market share will have to be over 50% of all Dry Eye prescriptions written. I have continued to grow my numbers, but I’m beyond the break point.

Every single company I know of uses a goal figure that includes a variety of benchmarks. Market share, managed care, volume, and influence of overlays and KOLs. Backward cheap ass people.

MC and JS don’t set the goals, it comes from above their head. They do their best to enable us to reach what comes from the top. To the last post saying “go somewhere else” that is exactly what reps will do. We the “reps” can control or destiny. Most are sitting back waiting for better opportunities and when they come, we will leave. No one is just gonna leave without something else to go to, that would be stupid. So, leadership, until you figure out how to stand up to your leadership and say these goals are ridiculous you will have a sales force that will Check the boxes until a package is offered or a better gig comes along. Now don’t get pissy and start calling me names. Reps are only a product of what this industry has created and I’ve been doing this over 2 decades. I’ve seen it, I’ve lived it.

Why don’t they assess the total prescription volume in each territory before adding another across the board 20-30% hike over previous quarter? For territories with declining volumes this is devastating. There are a few territories that will now have to outsell Restasis in commercial and government prescriptions just to meet goal. How can that be fair or right when other territories are ranked much higher yet are less than 35% of the total prescription market.
Who failed math here then got a job coming up with bonus payout?

Goals are reasonable to P Club Winners. Remember we are in SALES and we either deliver the bacon or we go bye bye. Instead of whining, go out and beat your goals.

Look yourself. Look at the leaderboard then go to data and check market share for those territories. They may be reaching goal and they may be growing in sales, but the share of market they have sux.
