New Diabetes Sales Specialist positions?

So question---if you work this contract for two years, or less if it terminates early, are you eligible for unemployment as if you were "displaced" from a big pharma company?

No. We get nothing. That is the joke of the contracts. We get nothing at all. A date it ends, and nothing more. No severance, nothing.

That is why it is not worth even considering one of these positions. The direct jobs are the real jobs and the only ones to consider. My contract was for "2 years" and ended in 11 months. Thats it, I was out. No pay, no severance, No bonus owed me, no car, no benefits, nothing. I am still looking for a position and have applied to over 1000 all over the nation. If I had never taken the cso position I would have a job by now with a great company. No one will consider me it is as if I am a marked man. Word to the wise. Don't sell yourself so short and take a contract job, it is the worst mistake many of us have made. (the honest ones)

Yes you get state unemployment. You will also get two weeks base severance and one week for each year worked. Any vacation time not utilized does get paid out. Personal days are not paid so be sure to use them. No matter what anyone else says, you will receive your last full bonus. If the contract does end there may be opportunity for another opportunity should there be one at the time.

Still trying to understand what is so bad about having a job versus not having one? The pay is good, there are benefits, and a car. The product is going to have a great once weekly indication. If the contract lasted 11 months versus 2 years, I would still feel fortunate.

I am so thankful to have gotten a face to face interview next week!

Glad you have an interview. I have significant experience with diabetes drugs, know the territory and docs will write for me, Amylin rep referred me for the position, yet have heard nothing.

It's people like you that truly appreciate a good thing as opposed to nothing. All the negative posts more than likely come from one or two idiots who are disgruntled and lost their cushy big pharma job. The ones who say CSO is career suicide are making broad statements without knowing or stating the facts. Maybe the reason they can't get another opportunity is due to geography, other people who may know someone, or even that they have a bad reputation. It's an employers market, they can look at a resume and decide that they want someone based on the college they attended or even their location. Don't listen to the negative posts. A job is better than no job.

if you have been referred - as i said in a previous e-mail, and you have heard nothing - i would highly recommend the amylin dm for the area contact the ventiv dm. period. why sit and leave it up to a recruiter? that doesnt make sense.
the pay for reps is 70 plus bonus. there may be someone who gets 72 or someone who gets 68 - but the pay is 70. bonus at plan for the reps is around 24 at plan. fleet vehicle. typical benefits package of big pharma.
oh - and by the way - to the 'dm' who says his pay is twice that of a rep - - - you are full of SH*T. either you are not a dm here or you have such a sense of being a loser that you want to make yourself appear to be better than the rest. complete bs. most of the people posting on here are genuine and good, hard working professionals that want to provide for their families. grow the hell up loser.
lastly, dont read anything in to any area that is interviewing next week. it is a 3 week schedule that is being conducted based on the id # of the territory. in other words - territory 11601 is Day 1, 11602 is day 2, 11603 is day 3 - - - etc, etc. the territories are NOT numbered so that chicago north is #1 and chicago south is #2. it might be chicago north #1, rockford #2, madison wisconsin #3 and chicago south #4. dont try to read into it.
good luck to all and to the loser dm - grow up dude

Thanks, yes I would love for the Amylin DM to contact the Ventiv DM. However, Amylin seems to have shut down for the week. I spoke with the rep who referred me, and that person is off till next week. I am not going to contact that person any further this week.

Who is doing the hiring? inVentiv DM or Amylin DM or are they doing the interviewing together? Thanks for any input!

So, I spoke to my area's recruiter before Thanksgiving. It was my initial "screening" call, and lasted all of five minutes. I hope that was because I am a former Ventiv employee, and she didn't have many "new" questions for me. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has a handle on the kind of diabetes experience they might accept for the positions. I have never sold a diabetic drug, however, I have diabetic/obesity experience in the area of lab sales (to endocrinology labs) and am pretty familiar with the disease state. Anyone have a good feel for this? Thanks. I appreciate your time in telling me what you think. :)

is the pay really only 70 base? No way I can go for this. I told the recruiter I was looking for a base in the 90's and she didn't blink. Still waiting for my phone call for the f2f. Maybe I scared them away. Not gonna leave my big pharma position for this anyway, just wanted to see what the deal was.
