MYRIAD GENETICS

Don't come to this company. They are hiring BRCA carriers to pimp their products right now. it's the same thing as hiring cancer victims to sell cancer products. Pretty sick if you ask me. Also, they are discriminating against men. The ratio of women to men at Myriad is around 5:1 and men are always getting the shaft no matter the experience. You know about the firefighters that were discriminated against because they were white? Well, it's only a matter of time before a Lawyer gets his/her hands on this company because it is just waiting for a huge lawsuit to occur. I know of at least 5 men that were laid off and replaced with women, even if they reached goal, had no problems at meetings, were ideal employees! This company is a disgrace. do NOT take the job offer.

Bottom line, 2 years in: Company pays exceptionally well & depending on your manager can be a total cakewalk. I made over $120k last year and stayed home more often than not. Bracanalysis sells itself, almost no work at all and a fat paycheck. The company is NOT started, run, owned, or dominated by Mormons. It's based in Utah because Mormons are really into documenting their family trees and are perfect for researching inherited diseases, even though they're heavily inbred. I have 15 years experience in the industry, mostly Pharma, and hope I never have to leave this gravy train. Cool products, too, actually saving lives and growing. Pharma is dying, genetics is the future, and Myriad is the leader. If you are fortunate enough to get an offer, you'd be crazy to pass it up. It's the best sales job in the biz. Stay at home, earn a wad, saves lives doing it. Isn't that why you went into the business?

Myriad doesn't care about the car you have. there's a rep in Texas that has a beater becaue he wants to collect the mileage money. pretty cheap, but it works really well. And, actually, I'm averaging about 2000 miles now, which is about a grand in mileage reimbursement. not too shabby. oh, and my first quarter bonus will be around 9k, which is middle of the road. good luck!

Do tell. How many of your MDs actually order for your test. 20? My guess is a small number of customers per territory. Better yet, how many have ordered more than 5 tests in a month?

No Layoffs! the stock is great! Everyone loves us!

My how the worm has turned

HR says there is a stack of rep files on the desks a mile high

the stock has been sucking air at the low 20s since anyone can remember

since management can't deliver to Wallstreet their solution is to blame the salesforce

the new product OnDose ain't performin', was delayed in the launch, a bunch of docs who used it in clinical trials are p*ssed and won't endorse it to other docs ... no medicare approval for a test to be used in colorectal cancer patients Brilliant! no data relevant to how colorectal cancer is actually treated Brilliant! Doctors who try it once or twice or even three times walk away from the test even when it's offered for free

finally they've gone out their way to p*ss off most genetics programs who are burning the candle at both ends working to get the reps kicked out any clinics they can Brilliant!

Fun times here in SLC

Any information on the Albany, NY position? What is the manager like? What does the compensation and benefits package look like for someone with 10 years of pharma experience?
Does anyone know why the position became available?

don't kid yourself unless you are from the insiders club of Eli Lilly they won't give a hoot about your pharma experience and likely will consider it a liability med/dental some of the lamest in the industry

Please define "very young, inexperienced dms" - specifically boston area, what's the deal with him - pharma background or something else? What about the rd there and how is that region doing with all those major medical centers/teaching hospitals?

speaking of young, inexperience dms, R Cook is an idiot.

Do all JAPs have big noses like K. Fischer? I thought most of them got nose jobs in junior high? She would have been decent looking if she had gotten that taken care of... Oh well. I guess it's ok when you keep telling yourself that you are hot when you're unattractive.

My buddy works for them. He told me that once two or three pharmaceutical compounds are approved officers will sell the
company to big pharma suiters. He also said they just signed
a deal with Abbott! STAY AWAY!!

I love how everyone is in the know. I am just reading this and it is now 2010, which is 4 years later and this company has not been bought out by big pharma yet.... Just goes to show the ignorance on this board.

Don't be too confident. Marketing for a buyout can take as many as five years or could be even longer during times like these. Tenured industry professionals with more of a global prospective (ie have worked in other healthcare organizations besides Lilly on a much higher level) with regard to healthcare science understand how pipelines and the nature of product lifecycle can effect when a company will be sold. If ignorance is truly bliss... then we all know why one would be so happy to brag that everyone else is wrong;)

What is the current scoop om Myriad? What is the salary + bonus range for Area Managers? How is the current culture?

Salary is mid 70's for reps, bonus is 7-8k per quarter at plan. I made 22 k last quarter. Culture is strained right now, but hopefully will be getting better, most reps aren't making bonus so they aren't too happy

The company has a good product but terrible leadership. The whole company is too sensitive and is more worried about making a mistake than taking a risk and getting more business. The genetic counselors think that they are drs. which is somewhat entertaining. Low pay, low bonus, no car, no company card, etc. If you have to have a job go here but watch your back.
