MYRIAD GENETICS

You people are all out of touch. Getting reimbursed for miles is way better than getting a crappy company car. YOu drive about 1500 miles a month and get around $740. enough for a new car payment that will be yours in a few years, all paid for by Myriad.

I agree. Are there any certain standards for the car you have? For instance, if I get a job here and can buy a car for $10k cash, and it looks nice, etc, just has high mileage, is that acceptable? I only use cash with the exception of my mortgage. I don't do credit cards or monthly payments. I guess I am asking because a friend of mine who worked for a shoe company had to buy a specific car and it had to be new which is just ridiculous!

Thanks!

Myriad doesn't care about the car you have. there's a rep in Texas that has a beater becaue he wants to collect the mileage money. pretty cheap, but it works really well. And, actually, I'm averaging about 2000 miles now, which is about a grand in mileage reimbursement. not too shabby. oh, and my first quarter bonus will be around 9k, which is middle of the road. good luck!

I also forgot to add that you have 4 quarterly bonuses and the year round bonus. You should get around 35k minimum bonus for the whole year. Target bonus is 6400 and people are crushing that target so far. it's a great time to come on board. It's great going into docs offices and being different from pill droppers. it's a great feeling when they actually want to talk to you.

So what is the point you are trying to make? That you are a bigot?

This guy also probably thinks mormons are still having multiple wives. It's a sect of Christianity, get over it. Bigotry will always be among those who are ignorant, we shouldn't even respond to such nonsense. Mormons are some of the most ethical and moral people on the planet, so it looks pretty stupid when you are bigoted against this religion. By the way, this coming from a catholic-raised christian.

Hoping to get the job....

Yes, they are expanding. But, this is not for the faint of heart. Big territory, lots of work. I took a pay cut to go into the Oncology side and the rewards ARE there. Most pharma reps, though, won't overlook the car factor. If you are a true salesman, check them out and you'll make double what you made in pharma.

I would love the mileage reimbursement vs company car. I have to say that would not be the reason I am interested. I have a long history of womens health sales-office device and lab sales-and tons of relationships/letters of recommendation. I also have clinical gyn/oncology experience. The major hospital systems are using all the Myriad tests (per the website) in my area. Screening/risk analysis is huge nowadays. My question is, does Medicare/Medicaid pay for tests, how is 3rd party reimbursement, cash cost to pt, etc.
Also, how much of a pay cut? Base only? I would rather have a base of $60k and huge bonus potential? Training? Sincere reply appreciated.

What is your area? A lot of insurances will pay for the test but some do not- just like with anything. Base is 55-65 DOE. I don't know about women's health but in oncology most of us are making our target bonus (25+) and a lot are doing well over $100k in bonus alone.

In the southeast-BCBS, United, Aetna, Cigna-the big four here. Also, cash paying pts and Medicare? Thank you for some honesty-I am shocked by it on this site.

Can anyone provide any information about the genetic testing side? I have been contacted about a position and wanting to know what the culture of the company is like, how well recieved the test is by the doctors etc? Management style, training and in general what are they looking for to qualify for the position? I have over 12 years in Pharmaceuticals.

Thank you for honest feedback.

Training similar to Pharma - home study and quizzes. Then 2 weeks at the home office. Trainers are realistic and helpful. Without going into great detail - the culture is good. People are at Myriad because the tests are important and really make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Physicians are generally more interested than they are in drugs, because the tests are unique. It's not like selling a product for a disease state in which there are 3 other options. Ideal qualifications will vary depending on the specific territory, manager, etc. Are there issues? Sure but, on the whole, it's a very good place to work.
