I wish all of you the best in 2015. Remember to dial things down and spend time on what I know is Merck's most important asset, YOU. Take the time off to pamper yourself, go to the health club and work out, golf more (I don't know if this is possible for me), girls- upgrade to the more expensive pedicure package, in short, have FUN this year. Life to too short to dedicate yourself to this company that has shown us time & time again that they really don't care.

Was with Merck 15 years. Then I got past entry level , left Merck and worked my way up to a real job. The vast majority of Merck reps I observed in my time there were not much more capable than calling for a tee time or had more ambition that arranging a pedicure.
Things haven't changed. I see corporate welfare is alive and well for some.
Doesn't seem to do much to advance Merck's agenda but I see those that would care are long,long gone.

Amen to that. The vast majority of us still here surely don't care any longer. That worked out very well for some of us. The rest are just bundles of nerves, which is so sad to watch.

I think the poster was speaking more to a Merck reps lack of competence rather than any company imbued nervous disorder. Merck has reaped what it has sown, certainly by its management style but also it's hiring practices. If Merck reps were any good at this business they would have already left for much greener pastures. The fact that they stay, especially in light of the ( supposed) negative environment they are working in speaks volumes about the low level reps that now inhabit Merck. They simply, I assume, don't have options or opportunities. Kinda like a fry cook that can't become a 5 star chef, or fry burgers anywhere else.

Landing a 6 figure salary in this economy for the last several years is hard to come by as well as companies offering pensions. Some our just riding this gravy train until the wheels fall off.

I put the little one on the bus, poured a coffee and settled in for a little CP entertainment. What I got was this. We certainly aren't all all nuts, but it appears a couple of us may be. You probably have your top-level meetings during which you plan the next layoff and lay traps for those evil 15s where you come up with this stuff.

Look, I know the 15 Guy and I get under the skin of some Merck die-hards. I get it. However, an AIDS joke is never funny, even when in an understandable context.

Loosen the tinfoil hat and schedule some time with a good therapist. Try to quell your suspicion that she is transgender and focus on straightening out the many twists in your mind. This is just a job. Don't let it damage you. It's damaged too many people already.

I have this dreadful disease I was young and dumb and acquired it from a young man I dated
