More Work Than People

Totally Agree! Who really needs a manager anyway? Or at least the amount of them are insane! They dont sell, and if you're a motivated sales person like most are, IMO, since we want to all achieve and make money, who needs them? They should use that money spent on Managers to apply more bonus money for super incentives. Im an award winning ,motivated experienced rep, so what does a manger do for me or the business? I work, i do well, and i need some no talent riding with me in the field, for what purpose? Does nothing to move sales. I think a manager is needed occasionally to filter the nonsense but not crucial and certainly not worth the cost. If i had a Co. i would hire reps and let them report to one regional manager. I mean to have al these DM's is the biggest waste. I rather have more reps calling on customers! Managers at this stage of the game rarely offer value, and they're are usually the biggest no talents from my experience.

Absolutely! Fine to have numerous managers in Primary Care but if GNE wants to save money, (and generous packages), be brave and lose some of these unproductive, insecure managers. Sure, there are quite a few who are good at what they do but, increasingly, too many egomaniacs who ruin teams and, ultimately, sales. Do we have to use the same model as every other company? Utilize those anonymous,(if there is such a thing), 360s and weed out the losers. PIP them out of here.

Better yet report the offending DM to the 800# Roche ethics line. IMO they are actually charged with trying to do the right thing for the overall average employee, unlike HR who seems to be charged with covering up for the company and firing anyone who reports a problem, IMO it's not that the ethics line care about protecting employees its that they are there to avoid the huge lawsuits, so these complaints get run by lawyers right off the bat. Don't think for a moment that they will solve your particular problem but they sure can F up a dishonest DM or RM's life. Talking to HR does nothing but get you fired. Calling the 800 number and or directly Switzerland is the way to go. The Swiss love to hear about and displace dishonest American management and then insert their own people Try it, it works and you have nothing to lose but a dishonest manager. Only tell HR anything if you want to get fired for telling the truth IMO.

Why do we have so many managers? They bring nothing to the table. Most were not great sales people and, just made the right connection and got promoted. It's not their talent that got them where they are. Also, why do the managers have to act like it's them against the sales force? Aren't we working for the same company?

Basically, managers function as very well paid babysitters. Their main purpose is to make sure all the COS' stay in the lines and give the current marketing messages. Their role is the least productive of any role in Pharma. They don't sell, they don't assist with reimbursement training, they don't set up or promote speaker programs,...The only thing they do is rank COS' for mid year and year end reviews and kiss up to the RSM.

True dat. With the coming cost savings it's either managers or CSs and which group brings home the bacon? HR, you have a perfect excuse for finally doing your job and throwing out the problem DMs and RSDs. Go to it.

Remember dont talk to USA, HR, only trust Roche HR in Switzerland. Use the 800 number and insist on talking to HR in Switzerland. They can start a true investigation.

RM's are even less productive than DM's. We need to lose at least half of them ASAP.

I mean look at Esbriet, not meeting its numbers, never had ,yet had like 17-20 DM's and 3 RSDs. For what ? Could you imagine the cost? I would have 6 DM's just for geography sake and 1 RSD or NSD. What a waste. I mean assume positive intent as most reps work and want to do well and are experienced then whats the use of a DM? Im anonymous and not trying to toot my own horn but I work and have been #1, #3 and have won all awards. Ill tell you DMs never made an impact in a positive way that helped me be a better rep, or sell more. No leader has the guts to change this structure. Kinda like a politician arguing for term limits, it rarely happens

Should have had the same CSs selling Esbriet, Xolair, and Pulmozyme. All calling on the same accounts, anyway, with exception of allergists. Seemed like a no-brainer.

Sound like they are professional liars ?

And they will just keep lying so get out while you can.

Yes, SLT lied to the troops about "more work than people". However, I would not make the next round of layoffs easy on them. Stick around, collect your paycheck and benefits. The severance package is sweet if you have any tenure. Make them pay!!

Can we please get a answer or at least a educated guess of the name of the person in senior management who came up with or approved the lie. "There's more work than people". If we can get a name we can start the process of justice.

Doubt there will be any more severance packages, everyone is just 2 low rankings away from a PIP and then your out the door with next to nothing. No mass layoff's anymore, just letting people go one at a time for cause.

It was someone from the US BioOncology Senior Leadership Team. They are the same people who made up the Transition Team; Senior Leadership and the Franchise Heads. Most likely they were all in a meeting together and coined the phrase (lie). But ultimately it rests upon the shoulders of the BioOncology CEO at the time. Not sure if that was Troy Cox or Christie Oliger. "More jobs than people" started at the end of 2016 I believe. Maybe at the BioOncology Meeting in Chicago? They said it a lot from the stage and ingrained the phrase by January 2017 at NSM.
