Most real medical device companies include a requirement for relevant medical device experience and/or education in their job descriptions, which the FDA audits against. Abbott got an FDA warning letter because their management was lacking in experience & qualifications. Has Medtronic just removed any requirement for relevant education & experience from their job descriptions in order to hire people with no medical device experience, especially in management? Hey Geoff, there are about 24 time zones on planet earth, there's more to the world than just the US. Also, management/ employee educational and experience qualifications are US federal law, 21 CFR 820.25. Last time I checked, the laws haven't changed to allow you to hire rodeo clowns to run your business units. How many FDA warning letters does Medtronic keep getting, especially MDT Diabetes? Does the president of MDT Diabetes have hands-on experience in FDA warning letter remediation? Does the president of MDT Diabetes even know what FDA stands for?Sweetheart- you included a link to an article from over 13 years ago. You really dug that one out of the archives. Also remember that when you're under an FDA warning letter, the FDA will not approve any PMAs, which means MDT Diabetes can't launch any new products or design updates until they resolve the warning letter. This gives the competition an advantage where they can innovate & get their products approved by the FDA while MDT Diabetes cannot.This - is humiliating. MDT Diabetes, Minimed used to be the leader in the space - everyone compared to us and we were leading on sensors and pumps and the future of the artificial pancreas - now we're getting patronizing press as 4th of 4 companies and clearly leadership has passed to other companies.
