Layoffs?







Unfortunately, HR is nothing but a bunch of 20-somethings that get transferred every couple of months. They are ONLY there to protect the company and the manager from potential litigation!! Unless you have a strong paper trail and hard evidence, they will NOT be any help. They also will talk to your manager so be cautious unless you want to land where others have on a PIP.....better known as layoff, or retaliation for speaking to HR. I think it's better to lay low and if things don't go the way you want it, start fucking with your manager in other ways.

Best advice on CP in a while. So, so true. HR is the fast-track to getting yourself booted.
 






I wonder how the interviews went with the regional managers? I am sure we will hear the news hopefully the end of next week? It would be nice if it was announced when we have our conference call on the 27th.
14 regionals down to 10. Not many jobs lost there. Managers.....that's a different story.
 






OMG! My as*hole of a manager thinks he is going to be around after the reorganization. Help me! He is part of the problem! I clench my teeth so hard every time I talk to him I now have TMJ issues. This is going to be the longest 40 or so days of my life!
 












I agree. MINE is the WORST. I think my manager thinks he will still have a job, but I know that is not the case. The best advice I can give you is for you to use a few weeks of your vacation in the next 40 days.
 






Aren't we supposed to have another conference call on Monday with Kip? I haven't seen anything about it yet.

My manager is convinced that his territory is too big not to have someone here. And then he said the last time this consulting group did anything he talked about how bad they screwed it up and how all the DM's got together and had to fix it all. That would kind of explain why we're so screwed up now. Again, your letting the inmates set the rules!

And I totally plan on taking some vacation.

Have you ever heard of a mini recorder to carry around when you are with this manger? Record him in some way, e-mail HR and say that you have been the victim of harrassment and start looking for a lawyer....or....Wait to see your manager outside of work after hours somehwere and suprise him, then tell him if he doesn't lay off you that you will beat the crap out of him. If you are a female have some dude scare him. End of story.
 






Actually have been using the mini recorder. Contacted a lawyer today. I figure at this point I have nothing to lose by going nuclear on his butt. Most of what he is saying and doing is over unactionable items. I don't get along with a teammate so all of a sudden I am a bad guy no matter what I do or how good my numbers are because he plays favorites. Oh, did I mention I also have the Dept of Labor on my side since I have a disability? I'm asking my lawyer what is the best way to proceed - go to HR first or go to dept of labor first.

Most smart phones/iphones have a recorder in them, just make sure you have it out and visible so you get the best audio quality. Shoot....if you lose your job it might be more fun to post the audio (and/or video) on youtube. Isn't technology wonderful?
 






Is anyone else bothered that we have to reapply for our jobs? I foresee new reps in new accounts with new products.... I see customer chaos- not streamlining communication. Weren't we one of the most profitable arms of the JnJ monster? Why frack it up?
 






My understanding is that we are not reapplying for our jobs - just the sales directors and division managers are. Reps are going to be placed using some secret formula they are making up.
 






I am so sorry that anyone feels the way I did when I left JNJ. All I can say is I am so much happier now. I did contact HR and made it a point to act in a moral, respectable manner (JNJ, for the most part did not.) HR was kind ford the most part, and gave me the time I needed to move on, but the dirt I had forced their hand. HR is a tool for JNJ! That said, I wish I had the balls to have contacted a lawyer. I am praying for all of you and wish you the best!
 






I hate that I feel the way I do as well. I love what I do. I just hate who I do it for! I think we do make good products and every other company I have ever worked for wouldn't give a damn how I made my number as long as I did. I'm not being "dinged" because I'm not killing the powered number and why aren't I pushing powered 45? Well, gee, ummmm backorders and not released yet? Oh but wait, that's just an excuse. What bullshit. Please God, make this a+@hole go away!
 






Well kids, I no longer care if he figures out who I am. Just got my FVL and was crucified. I'm making my number but yet I am going to have to tell him where I am all the time. So is this a PIP? How can I be on a PIP if I'm making my number? I"m being sited for not professionally representing EES because a coworker doesn't trust me. Yes, I'm hiring an attorney and I know this isn't going to end well but any insights on how to get moved someplace else where I'm not going to be running into this a@#hole?
 






I highly doubt you will get transferred. Sorry! However would it be easier if you just did what he is asking instead of fighting it? Just do it and move on. No need to fight and worry all the time. Keep it simple and life will be much easier. Just a thought. Good luck.
 






It is like arguing with a child. I've done everything he has asked of me and been quite successful but due to a personality conflict with another team member, all of a sudden i'm just poo. It is like the last 4 years before this didn't even exist. Every time I bring up something he finds a way to dimiss it as insignificant. I'd like to go on a find another job but I really do love what I do. I'm proud of the products and enjoy being in the OR. If I wasn't doing something right I wouldn't have the track record I do have. So I'll fill out his stupid activity report and keep praying he will get axed but I'm doubtful that will happen.
 


















Ive been with several different big companies and had many different managers. J&J managers in my experience have been the most ineffective and incompetent managers I have ever had. They try to motivate you with fear but to a seasoned rep that is very ineffective. My advice is to ignore what they say, do you job and act like you don't care what they "rate" you. They will see it's not working to treat you like dirt and give you bad ratings. By all means do not leave cause if you do they "win". Document everything you receive from customers highlighting your competence and keep all emails from your manager commenting on your performance. Good luck.
