Layoffs?

Todays calls only clarified that managers will be interviewing and the rest of us will be placed by some super formula they are still developing and by managers who may or may not know us. oh super!

I have to say one good thing about the shake up - all the BS emails have pretty much stopped. It's kinda funny seeing my manager squirm the same way he tries to make me squirm with every ride along.

The last post was hilarious. You are so right. 0 emails and I guarantee 0 field rides from now on....if any manager does any field rides, then that is a pathetic joke. Because his job is going to be G-O-N-E. 140 managers down to 50-60? Now that is what I can trimming the FAT.

What kind of a hole managers do you people have? Mine is great. I would never tolerate that kind of bs. I would let him know it and if it got me in hot water, so be it. But, I would set the expectation real f...ing quick! This job is tough enough on its own without a mgr distracting you.

There is a place for managers like this. It's called pharma.

My manager is a troll and apparently feels the need to share his pain by riding with me next week. I'm really close to going thermal nuclear war on his sorry behind. I hit my numbers, my customers like me but he feels the need EVERY time he rides with me to tell me what a piece of crap I am. WTF? Any other company would be kissing my da*m toes cause of the numbers I pull.

You're lucky if you have a good one. I know most of my side of the world need to be G-O-N-E and the sooner the better!

Wow! I would stand up for myself. If it got me fired oh well. But, I would never let that continue and I would never be driven off. Stand your ground and let the chips fall where they may.

It's not that easy. I need the job. I'm primary bread winner and it would be devastating to my family if I lost my job. What I want to know is this - has anyone contacted HR? Do you know anyone who has contacted HR and how did that go? I understand it is there job to protect the company but in some cases the best protection is to keep the manager and employee apart. I just keep praying he will be moved or something with the shake out. The waiting is killing me!

Unfortunately, HR is nothing but a bunch of 20-somethings that get transferred every couple of months. They are ONLY there to protect the company and the manager from potential litigation!! Unless you have a strong paper trail and hard evidence, they will NOT be any help. They also will talk to your manager so be cautious unless you want to land where others have on a PIP.....better known as layoff, or retaliation for speaking to HR. I think it's better to lay low and if things don't go the way you want it, start fucking with your manager in other ways.

Please tell us what you mean when he tells you that you are a piece of crap everytime you ride together? Real examples or it's just complaining.

I've made my number every year I've been with the company and even won the "big trip" but yet he continues to tell me I can't sell and I'm just lucky. It doesn't matter that he has changed my hosital mix continually, I still pull their numbers up and make my number. The more successful I am, the more he messes with me. I don't get it. He definately has his favorites on the team and I don't care - I just want to be left alone.

I'm afraid if I am more descriptive, he will know it's me. I know he reads this website because he has asked me about it.

Take it easy nobody will know anything. What you described could be any rep and any manager. Sounds like this manager is threatened by your ability to sell and in regards to the "you get lucky" comment who cares! With all the contracts and things out of our control I will take anything that helps my business. I love reps that act like they have everything to do with their business when a win happens but when you loose something it's never their fault.

Dont worry about your manager. You only see them every so often and when they call or email you tell them what they need to hear and you go back to whatever it is you do when you hang up or get out of the car after a ride with. Good luck with the upcoming changes!
