Labcorp mangement

Any fortune 500 company who does require their management to have a college degree is not a company to be taken seriously. This is the year 2015

I don't know where you get your information but LC DOES require a College education for management positions. But if an employee has been with the company for years and has worked their way up to that level and is qualified then they would get that promotion, degree or no degree. That's the way it should be. Why are you so fixated on this?

Because my mommy assured me that if I studied hard and got good grades I would be successful. Now I'm out here in the real world and I discover that they only reward me for hard work. Really hard work. That wasn't part of my plan. To top it off, my boss never finished college, and I have to take orders from him. It isn't fair. I'm also sick of living in my parent's basement at 27.

You sound like my mommy. "If I work really hard here, I will be successful?" You must mean, if by chance, I get the right territory, I may make a decent bonus. You can do everything right and work your ass off and still get either short changed or rifed in order to make budget. That is the reality of the situation ? The answer should be to work smart, but with the outdated garbage we put up with and a "so called" compensation plan that can, at best, be termed disingenuous, incentive is turned into a joke. I finally get it. We are not really in business to be "medical lab". This company has only one goal...turn a profit. This just happens to be a lab.

You must mean LabCorp isn't one of them. You distinguish yourselves by how well you such up, brown nose, and kiss ass. You should have been well trained on those techniques by you college fraternity. Learn by what experience ? Being a loud moth ass hole?

If you had the good fortune to have gone to a good business school, you would know how just how wrong you are. The lack of well trained managers is the main reason for the sorry culture at LC. There is a reason students come from all over the world to be educated in the US. The reason LabCorp doesn't want formally trained managers is because they micromanage everything. They can take a high school drop out because it is not a legal regulation not to do so. And if they are going to micromanage every move you make, what's the difference? College grads, who have to pay back those student loans, come a dime a dozen now.

All well said but if you have a bunch of people that agree with everything you have to say, sooner or later you will be surrounded by people who have nothing to say.

Anybody who defends Labcorp archaic backwards ways, is a total moron. Me - Why did supplies cut the order for my client without telling them? Manager - we have to cut back, Budget dude. WTF! We still work with paper forms that look like they were put together in 1997 and this asshole is worried about a few supplies but wants me to retain their business? Hey are you backfilling the KAE vacancy for my territory? No, budget dude. College or not this place is a total joke.. bad leadership, bad management, bad company.

everything is mircomanaged here and ALL decisions are made in Burlington! so, they just need a warm body who is a follower and can be manipulated. This a top down management principle that Labcorp operates with and it is very similar to the military hierarchy. I have seen many managers in meetings and in person talking to people - i wouldn't hire half of these nit wits to watch my dog. Very unprofessional. The men act like they are the owner of a professional sports team and the women treat everybody like someone is trying to steal their boyfriend/husband. Cheesy dudes and wretched women about sums the managers I have interacted with. To answer your question, If i didn't bring it up, nobody would be talking about it. #Trump2016

Steal their boyfriend? This post is ridiculous. Silly.

Just read in forbes magazine that the number one determining factor to accept a job among millenials and gen x's, is corporate culture. Followed by technology 2nd, work/life balance being 3rd, and salary 4th. Looks like labcorp better keep their aging workforce in place for a long time or will be forced to change their dinosaur ways. Granted, a lot of these people are probably spoiled little brat hipsters who had mommy and daddy pay for their colllege tuition. Regardless, it does show what motivates the future of the workforce. Labcorp has possibly one of the the worst corporate cultures, they still work with paper forms for EVERYTHING and technology is way behind. Work/life balance is terrible but most companies today are not much better and their salary is average at best.

Next offer I make will try to sell the first three....but will only be asked about the fourth.

Let's be honest, you probably couldn't sell yourself out of a paper bag considering you missed the whole point of the post....toying with the notion that you actually could, you would lose all credibilty if you SOLD the first three..And your hire would know you sold them a bag of goods and quit in 6 months. If you told the truth, you might not even get to the fourth but pending you did, you would certainly have the right candidate. because the salary isn't the problem..The problem is the culture itself, and until that changes you will have to keep selling that dream every 6 months...Good luck with the next offer. #Trump2016

When everyone is faking a happy disposition to simply put on a front there are larger issues at hand. Ppl should not be feeling like this place is "killing" them. And when ppl feel worse leaving weekly meetings and do not feel there is any support, these are signs there are problems. The new external ppl get a quick fire drill training and no management training, and are expected to keep programs afloat. How? How will we survive? How is it that no one is doing anything about this and thinks it's ok to run a business this way? Why do some get preferred treatment if you are a "favorite"? This ship is sinking so expect to see ppl jump ship in April.
