Lab West Upper Management?

You ask me to look into the mind of a person who is mental. I can tell you what she says and what I am witness to. This is what she says with extreme desperation in her voice: Turnaround time is the only thing that separates the Monrovia lab from the others. She ssid that any lapse in turnaround time means that another lab could come right in and steal the client. Fewer clients mean layoffs and she intends to keep her job right there in Monrovia.

My guess is that she feels insecure and that the real sk will be revealed. And because she is spineless wimp when confronting authority, she will manufacture some fictional crisis in order create a smoke screen and distract attention from her ineptness and to dupe management into thinking that she is somehow being violated and that they are protecting and supporting her. Trust me when I say that it is all contrived drama. The only threat is in her mind.

For instance. Law requires that every cytotechnologist is given a 6 months review in order to show that they can handle the workload without a significant increased error rate. The one review that she prepared was a joke. She took over the supervisor job a year and 9 months ago. We only had one semi-annual Westcliff review from her and she submitted those outdated statistics to HR. Yes, 1-1/2 years old in order for our current LabCorp July 2011 annual evaluation. Throughout the time that she has supervised, we have received no cyt/histo tissue correlations. No monthly stats. Unbelievable.This is basic Quality Assurance.

Click your heels together three times and say "Out of Compliance", when they hear it they will come. Expose her for what she is. Im so sick of good hard-working people being led by a**-sucking fakes with no heart.
 






I think everything LabCorp does is scripted and done intentially to keep everyone in the dark. THey may be stroking her along so she doesn't leave, but have plans in place. And anyone who is human and a great person with morals will never go far up the ladder at LabCorp, especially if he voices his opinion about any unfair practices that he sees in the LabCorp system.
History repeats and LabCorp will not keep duplicate labs too close to each other, especially one that is expensive and losing clients. Thats what happens when LabCorp takes over, you lose your clients - then corporate needs to make cuts to balance it out and keep stuffing cash in their pockets. Monrovia's lease is also coming up for renewal.

What a bloody shame. I kind of sensed that but needed the confirmation.
 












Herein lies your saving grace from sk...obviously totally incompetent but LabCorp is so big and disjointed it takes a LONG time for people's ineptness to be realized. It is only when there are complaints (esp to HR about LabCorp protocol violations - ie lack of reviews, stats, etc.) that action is taken. From experience I know that the more that CTs complain about valid points, big wigs see who is rocking the boat and get rid of them. Does the name M*******a ring a bell? Do everybody a favor and try to get rid of her now, and your transition to one of the other labs will be better because it will be without her.

Oops. That's good to know. I don't really know her well, but have heard some things.

cytology is bad enough as it is with the shrinking paps, makes it even worse with a horrible boss like sk. u think we want her to represent us - especially when she is exposed for the useless manager she is?
typical, throw a big hissy fit when people's families call, etc but its ok for her to talk on the phone endlessly and not do any work

The prior posts give a good description of what is going on, but it is way worse.
Sk treats most of dept staff that way. Did anyone get a decent review or a raise? She was all sweetness when talking to corporate or someone is visiting from corporate. Too bad they did not know the right questions to ask. Like the previous posts say, she is pretty dangerous because she lies with impunity, and gives no quarter. She has management so conned.. SC was the former supervisor. We all know that SC put SK in that position because she knew she could not handle it and figured on the lab keeping it's promise to keep her on as a consultant. She had to believe that lab would need her help. Westcliff had to streamline so they didn't use SC after all and we are left to suffer the fallout of a a plan gone awry. SC is a pretty good liar too, but at least, she is a competent cytotech and she knows QA. Everyone is so stressed. This is unhealthy.

Who are you talking about getting rid of? I hope you mean SK. If not, explain why.
 












Problem is, they don't have anyone in Van Nuys or San Diego who could take SK's job. And they won't promote from within until the good old boys are sure anybody they promote is drinking the koolade.

What about C....r A....no? Is he still in San Diego? He has a management degree and he would be a good candidate.

And the former Westcliff supervisor, Brian B. Sylvia C stole his job from him 4 years ago. Is he still in San Diego or did he go to the Quest lab in Riverside? They could give his job back to him.

When you say drink the koolaid , do you mean that this person would have to be a sell out, and buy into the cut-throat culture of screwing over your coworker, Know how to cover up, lie and keep quiet in the face of unfairness?

I was hoping that M.........a would take the job from within. Why don't they just use leads since they are going to close the lab anyway. My goodness. They could make M........a the lead. Sk is going to screw us all out of a job.

Apparently the lab inspectors didn't ask the right questions either.
 






Who cares about SK or SC or BC or whatever at Monrovia. Your lab will be a ghost town by the end of the year when LabCorp does not renew the lease, everyone is laid off, and the work goes to Van Nuys and San Diego. It will all become a mute point.

LOL. Like we don't know that? Just thought I would bring that up because history has a way of repeating itself to the unaware. Most of us prefer to keep it simple. We just want a job to make money to pay our bills and we want to be treated fairly. That is all there is to it. We never asked for nor do we want the drama. But when you are dealing with certain types of personalities, it is unavoidable. This is the first time in my long career that the job market has been this bad and it is not that easy to just quit and go to another lab the way it used to be. I don't know about you, but I have bills and a mortgage.

And for whom it may concern, I hear the word love bandied about like it is just an emotion . But love is more than a word or a feeling. It is a behavior. Love does not covet, threaten, lie, cheat or steal. Love and fear cannot occupy the same space. Love is truth. Love is of God. You don't have to say it if you live it. Just like a tree, you will be known by your fruit.

Well that goes without saying, doesn't it? The person who is professional, can get the job done and still hold on to his/her soul in the process is desired. Does this corporation value professionally trained supervisors and managers? Apparently Westcliff did not or we would not be going through this now. There is a science to it. To be a good manager, you first have to be a good person.Having morals does not mean that you are not practical.
