Labcorp even has its own Teflon Donna. Sk is not a snazzy dresser, but she has has been able to get away with some sick, illegal, and even criminal behavior. I have seen others get canned for way less. You can't say management did not know either. The seemed to admire the ruthlessness of it all. When this is all over, she may end up in jail. And for what? a job as a LabWest supervisor?

You give SK way too much credit. Being evil doesn't necessarily mean you are smart and can be move up the corporate ladder. LabCorp will welcome her callous, back-stabbing ways now, esp right after an acquisition and right before RIFs and duplication elimination - but they will eat their own young in the end and she will be the first one on the plate. Great to have a little scapegoat to do the evil-bidding so Corporate doesn't look AS bad, hmmm? Then they can always say it was just one bad manager at that lab, then whoops, we have to eliminate that lab and then SK wil have more than enough time to resume her anger management class, and continue taking her meds again.

But keep up the discussions because the sooner she is seen as a complete tool by the bosses she has lied to, they may want to get her out early. Especially if she is a liability and doing illegal or criminal tactics as you say. Care to hint at what?
She is at the top of the pay scale and that is a good enough reason right there.

Did you check out the lab reports. The pathologists went right along with it. The reports state that Appropriate CONTROLS were processed with the specimens. Don't shoot the messenger, but Isn't that a false report?

What a bunch of crap! TYpical power-hungry little cyto manager - but cower to her and she wins. There is safety in numbers if you can get your fellow cytos to band together (and you and I know that is rare), but they won't fire the whole dept. if you stick together. Are these threats coming from sk directly, or from old Westcliff management, or new labcorp people...this is the "gag order" you speak of? Would be interesting to figure out where it originated.

What ever happened to peer/colleague review and discussion? What the hell are they so afraid of, you talking about the lame review review that everybody gets because everyone other than cytos think cytos get paid too much for doing too little? I'd like to see them do it, stare through two little holes in a machine all day long as you while you are constantly watched and made to calculate how much time you spent in the crapper that day? Lets see.... .05 minutes for #1, .1 for #2... Is your DCF correct to the second everyday?

Evaluations are a joke, and I think intended to make you feel like your job is in peril so you don't want to say anything (and get a raise), but they still need cytos to crank out the Paps so corporate can keep buying other little labs and run them into the ground.

So we all talk here...everything is anonymous so F- them! Venting always helps, and insight will enable you to be prepared for the BS that will still be coming. And keep your nose so clean that they don't have anything on you and you will be ok. Dont give sk any reason to find out you are doing anything wrong - her pathetic uselessness will come to a head as all zits do.

OMG. You are poetry to my ears. This is exactly what is happening. After all, being one minute off on your DCF is more important than finding abnormal cells on a slide. I don't know if you work at the Monrovia site but it as if you have a front row view. Are you saying that this goes on at other LCA sites as well? This is almost surreal. The knit picking, lack of empathy and human compassion, unfounded accusations, etc...orders barked out by this little weasel psychotech general with a Napoleon complex.

It is such a relief to find like minds and to know there are some good people out there. One thing is for sure. Everything starts with the leadership. Especially corporate culture. This is BS. I am looking for a job. Not just any job. I will be careful this time to check out the atmosphere first.

They don't want us to get together on who got raises and who did not and catch them in their lies. Information is power. If we should start sharing info, a little thing like self esteem might become contagious. OMG I cannot believe that I am actually trying to make sense of this craziness.

Talking about DCF's. One good thing happened. A very sweet cytotech, M.O. is now in charge of the Monrovia site DCF's. We get them back each morning and on time from her without any of the attitude or gratuitous comments. Hurry back from vacation M.O. We missed you. What a breath of fresh air.
 












Labcorp is really going to shut down Monrovia, ther is an obligation to the patients and the techs .

We heard that the meeting was more like a kangaroo court. The tech was completely caught off guard. When sk told obvious lies and no one corrected her, just made excuses for her, she knew that the fix was in. Heard that Sk said that when she went through orientation for supervisor with former Westcliff HR Manager, R. Sweeney, he told her to be conservative when evaluating employees.

LOL First of all, she does not know the difference between the bi-annual employee report approving the cytotech's daily slide limits and HR's Annual Employee Performance Appraisal for raises? She says that Sweeney told her to be conservative on a six months slide limit report??? I DON"T THINK SO. The last time the techs got an annual employee performance evaluation was 4 years ago when they got our last raise. Any they can thank Sylvia Calderon for that.

If it was that easy for her to get away with an obvious lie, no wonder they are so easily manipulated and we all got crappy reviews. Like the previous posts said, sk does not represent us.

No that complicated. They thought they could fake it and being out of compliance would not be noticed because of the merger and because they passed the State Inspection. When complaints surfaced concerning that fact that LCA raises are given in August and all of the other labs had gotten their raises,and Labwest, Monrovia had not, the little team turned in some bullsht to HR to cover their asses. Clueless, who has no idea how nor the moral authority to judge or evaluate anyone, screwed pver the best techs and they are rightfully pissed.
Advice:
It is best to follow Dr. Y's orders to keep to yourself, do your work and get the hell out. Face it. There is no place to look for friendships, fairness or human emotion like compassion. You are treated as if you have no rights and how dare you ask for your raise. You are not needed or wanted here so stop complaining . So you haven't had a raise in 4 1/2years and in that time your work load including responsibilities have nearly doubled with the prices of gasoline and groceries. You should be glad you have a job. Don't you know that there are people starving in Somalia, India and North Korea? If you don't like it ,leave. Good riddance because you will easily be replaced. We don't give a damn how talented or good you are. You think you should be treated fairly an properly compensated? Who wants to deal with attitudes like that?

I cannot all the lies I am reading on here! You people should be ashamed of yourselves. It is obvious that you received a bad review and I am sure you deserved it. I can see this coming from teenagers but a bunch of adults obviously unhappy about their job is ridiculous! Like I said before you are a dumb bitch and cannot believe we work with people like you.
