Iroko Project

I already have an offer but does anyone know if FDA approval is still set for OCT 18th? With the whole govt shutdown will push the approval back? I'm assuming the staff has been cut down? Any info greatly appreciated!

UPDATED: What happens to the FDA in a government shutdown?

September 30, 2013 | By Damian Garde

Not good news for our Hire date of November 18, 2013...maybe 2014!

With hope for congressional compromise waning by the hour, the federal government is bracing for its first shutdown in 17 years, and for the FDA, that means furloughing about half its staff and ditching duties it can no longer afford. What that spells for drug developers with eyes on approval, however, remains murky.

If the government shuts down come Tuesday, the FDA will lose 6,620 employees, about 45% of its staff, and the agency would have to cease many inspections, enforcement actions and monitoring operations, also suspending the "majority" of its internal lab research, according to a Department of Health and Human Services briefing.

As for advisory panels, PDUFA dates and the agency services that affect the drug development world, things are more opaque. While the government is quite clear that only mission-critical, life-and-death work will continue, DHHS also said that the "FDA would continue limited activities related to its user-fee funded programs," which would include drug approvals.

Thanks for responding about FDA. When do you think Iroko/inVentiv will start informing us of a new hire date? So far of course this hasn't come up. It's going to be really difficult planning things without for sure start dates now. Such bad timing!!! Hopefully this is resolved soon.

I believe the drug will still be approved oct 18 after reading that article..that said we all need to contact the managers and ERM to ask about the gov shutdown.

Thanks! The article is do misleading to me on one end I take from it only life saving drugs will still more than likely be approved on schedule. And then it states the approval dept will still conduct limited approval activity overall because it's fee based meaning I'm sure Iroko has already paid for the approval process. Overall I'm hoping it gets approved on Oct 18 or only delayed for a short period. This has already been a long process but now maybe not knowing when we will start is frustrating. I know there are some families truly being affected in worse ways and I am grateful I have a job offer but I'm ready to get to work

I have a panel interview coming up, can anyone who has been through this tell me:

1) How many people interviewed you?
2) Behavioral interview? Star format answers?
3) How long did it last?
4) Did you know at the end of the interview if you would be getting an offer?

Not that I am complaining but why Florida for training?
That seems very expensive to send everyone, and I assume everyone will have a nice hotel room? Unless they are doing the roommate thing which would suck.
