Iroko Project

Hello All,

I have been offered the Iroko gig and I wanted to get your honest opinions, condescending or not. I am currently with Forest and have been for 2 years. I do not know much about the pain industry but with Iroko my territory would be sliced by more than half and I would not overlap with any counterparts as I run into about 10 now. What would everyone suggest I do? Stay with what I know until something better comes along or take this opportunity? Thanks in advance.

Unless there is an impending layoff situation, large salary increase, or you are miserable in your current position, I would stay put. Right now you are with a pharmaceutical company, this project is contract sales. Several years ago, I took a contact position after working for a well known pharmaceutical company. I never recovered financially. I know it's wrong, but there is a stigma attached to working with a contract organization. Just my opinion.

I took this job because I was part of a lay off, so I am grateful to be employed again. I do have mixed feelings about the job because it is a risk. But sometimes big risk can mean big reward. I believe that there will be challenges to selling these products, but there is a niche and need for them. So if you are at a stage in your life where you need something new and refreshing, then take the job. If it turns out to be successful, that is great! But if is does not, then another door will open for something else.

This is a contract company, with a job for a fixed duration of time agreed upon between Ventiv and Iroko. No one knows what Iroko has planned after launch, they might sell the company once they have achieved a certain sales goal, and you will be off to the unemployment line. Who knows, with this contract you may have a job for 2 years, maybe less, hopefully more. You just dont' know with contracts, take it if you need a job, but if you have a secure job, stay there until you can go with a non contract company.

Be sure and clarify what the pay is here. Also I would ask about specifics on the health insurance they provide.
Overall, I agree that it is not as good for your career to take a contract.

What difference does it make? None of the real companies are hireing. UNless you plan to go to oncology, it wont matter.
If you are under 35 , then it does matter. You need to become a permanent employee to fix the problem
