I have this creeping feeling I made a terrible mistake coming here... at every turn they are below expectation. Anyone else feel like they are not getting the experience they were promised during interviews?

Why would they do this? There are a ton of hard working reps that would come over for 100k+ and be ecstatic. Why would they dupe folks with 20+ years experience? Don’t they know if we leave in the middle of launch it’s going to be a disaster? Yes providers often see it as a red flag when reps leave companies, let alone those with relationships and credibility.

ya think? It’s cause they didn’t structure the pay plans to attract winners. It paid the highest salaries to those with experience, not those who have been successful prior. You have other companies’ misfits coming here for 30k raises.

I don’t know what you were promised during the interviews. But everything has been pretty much what I expected joining a brand new startup. I’ve done this before. So far, I like the people I’ve met and the training material is good. Got my rental car, IT equipment and credit card without a hitch and I’m just moving along. It’s a startup. Relax.

You highly overvalue yourself. You leave they hire a new rep and the office that loves you start writing the product for the new rep. With a start up drug - Docs dont have a loyalty like that to reps .

I am just lucky I got enough of that feeling before the start date. They don't care if people leave mid launch, if they cared about that they wouldn't have given their top picks lower than recruiters had promised and made the offers non-negotiable. Budget is tight, and I don't see that changing unless bipolar depression gets approved.

There are worse startup situations out there though, this at least has a chance, in my opinion. If you thought it was worth joining I don't see why you wouldn't at least see how launch goes.

That person may indeed overvalue themselves but I've seen it with myself and others, a rep well liked by prescriber's can start with a new company and instantly get scripts by asking, as long as the product provides some benefit to patients.

No, I don’t overvalue myself. My point is that new product, new rep, and then new rep again. Psychs are uneasy around change in general.. let alone 6 months in to a new drug you are on your 2nd rep. Mind you given the circumstances which rep in their right mind is taking a job with a startup when they didn’t even get to launch the drug? Bottom tier.

HR needs to investigate John Deegan. I feel bad for the reps who are going to work for him. At first he will be all nice and “team player” until you don’t do what he thinks is the best, if you have an idea of your own ( especially if it makes him look stupid for not thinking of it first) , numbers aren’t skyrocketing in the first quarter of sales, you have an office you don’t mesh well with ( then comes the verbal assaults from him telling you , you suck as a rep and dont know how to build relationships) and the list goes on and on ....

#fakenews. He thinks relationships are for losers.
If this company cared they would have checked his HR File at Forest/Actavis/Allergan Guy was a train wreck.
The fact that he was one of the first managers hired and still had opening into the new year should have been a red flag. He will continue to do here what he did there simply because he got away with it and faced 0 consequences. Why would/should he change. You’re dreaming if you think differently

Loser couldn’t make it at Capital 1. Another ex athlete who can’t motivate his people. He and Jamie Hedges will be looking for new jobs within 2 years.

They hired a whole slew of loser managers that are known to be dumber than a rock but sure know how to bully. WTF, Intra-Cellular.

Truth be told it’s nothing against the company IC. Pharma is a one giant recycled land fill of pharma trash. Every time time there is a new company hiring a new sales force all the recycled trash lines up to get these jobs. Makes it all quite pointless. Yea new company with new drug but the same recycled trash working there. It’s a vicious cycle.

What is the deal with this Jamie Hedges guy? I want to know before accepting an offer. Is he really that bad to work for or just one person posting tons of nasty things because they didn’t get along?

You always get the questions in the phone screen and F2F of "how many President's Clubs have you won in the last 3 years?"

It's such a dumb question because why would you leave a company if you are rocking it the last few years? Then you may have candidates who are not recycled trash but could have left for various reasons like the company they were with is in financial trouble, no pipeline, bonus plan sucks, company wide layoffs, need a change of scenery after many years, and maybe they had a manager like the ones described above who makes their life miserable.

So go easy on the "recycled trash" bit. You may find yourself in the same situation in your career. More and more turnover in this industry than ever.

Spot on. Easy with the negativity and recycled trash for sure. While I chose not to work for IC I wish them the best! Patients need new meds and this will be a helpful option. Best of luck to all who are taking the journey!
