I'm not surprised. They often leave it up to the department head to decide which employee is getting what % of merit increase. And when your manager talks to you about increase, he/she would always tell that your increase is either the same as for everybody or higher than other people's- a standard lie to discourage people share with each other how much of increase they've got.
So, if you've got 1% or less, it's your boss, not the company.

Yup. After getting 3% or higher for years, they did this BS to me, so I left.
They can't come out and say they don't want you to work there anymore.
They do this passive aggressive bullying thing to drive you out including lowering your bonus/merit, probation, and checklists so they can measure what you've done all week. There was no motivation to do better, especially when there were plenty of jobs available,

This is helpful post, thanks for it! Confirms that merit increase indeed varies from one employee to another. Mine's never been higher than 2% and my a$$hole boss kept telling me it was better % than other people got because I worked so hard. This place $ucks.

100% . I left that place for the same reason. I keep in touch with a few and encourage them to get out. It's a toxic environment. They use bully tactics like it's normal. I'd never witnessed so much BS in my entire career.
 
























Agree. Especially Taro finance. 99% of whining on CP is coming from them. Lazy, ungrateful, low-performance people.

We keep going around in circles with this, but the good employees left in the last three years because of the bullying and mismanagement. We are left with many low-performance employees because of this. We still have good employees, but they cannot make a dent in this problem.
