Idorsia contract

The Syneos cattle call is so unprofessional. This 350 lb gal, calls you upstairs, where you went to sign in for interview. She said, and I’m quoting, “You we’re ok, but someone else was better. She had on sweat pants. No college degree, not articulate, like she worked in a sweat shop. Then, your sent home. After an interview with some old broad from New York area. Never looked at my resume, never read presentation I was told I must put together, yawned, and looked at her watch. I was the 4 pm. She had hired the 10 am. Flew all day and night to Dallas. It was a joke.

I interviews with syneos twice a few years ago...both times flew to Dallas...both times had a very similar experience...I called the recruiter the next day and said...please remove me from your possible candidates going forward. I realize that may limit my opportunities down the road...but the company is the absolute worst.

I agree that going to Dallas/Philly is not ideal. However, they did this for the GSK contract and I thought it was run professionally in Dallas. You got told if you were selected a few days later, just like most interviews that are the final interview via Zoom or in person. So, not sure what the big deal is?

Most true specialty roles employed directly with company are paying in 120-130 range for base salary (mid/SR level experience) anyways. Its a shame Syneos takes so much off the top. I could see a referral/recruiting fee of 5-7k, but its kinda ridiculous that (supposedly) the specialty base is so low.
But, it may be a great opportunity for someone looking to have an entry level role into specialty.

So apparently one of the managers in NorthEast was fired from his last gig for frequenting massage parlors. I googled him and then went to to his old companies thread to see if anything was there, and saw that information.

OMG! I'm in North East. How am I supposed too look these people in the face when I know this now?

Yeah, fuck off loser. We didn’t want you. You suck. Bye Felicia

I worked for Syneos in 2016 on GSK contract. Dallas/Cattle Call. First pharma job. Have nothing but good things to say about my overall experience with either organization. Got laid off from big pharma during Covid and just ready to get back out in the field. My GSK contact only lasted for 10 months, so who knows how long this will go? Flying to Atlanta overnight 12/29 to meet with direct DM and another DM and if moved info second/final will need wirh Area Sales director.

Okay, I really need some advice from those familiar with contracts and launch products. I’ve read that most of you think that over half will be cut after year one. That stinks. I’m very interested in this contract but don’t need to really leave my current position, especially for something that seems so unstable. help.

I would strongly urge not to leave an existing job for any contract. Syneos is great if you are on that contract path, your contract ends, and you need a new one. But I wouldn't make a switch while employed unless you are completely miserable.

Thank you so much for your advice. While not completely miserable all the time where I am (60% of the time completely miserable), it is super stable, and I am worried about moving to something that isn’t. And then being out of a job in a year resulting in 100% complete misery.
Being an adult is so fun ;)

I stand corrected. Was thinking this was more specialty role/CNS/neuro, etc...calling on psych/neuro/PCP.
But percentage wise was told mainly PCP's.
That explains why offering bases in 80-90 range vs "specialty" pay.

I get it! :) No place is perfect. Maybe people feel otherwise. Contract definitely has some things going for it and Idorsia sounds decent (so far). But I don't think it is equivalent to having a stable job. Pharma is already unstable. Contract is way more unstable and tends to be temporary "projects" not meant to last past a year or 2, unless you get on a really good one. It's a big gamble. Why give up something stable for something most likely short term? What I like about Syneos is that they will place you in interviews after your contract ends. But that can be a grind, and you already have a job.
