Idorsia contract

Was told ideally 2 candidates per opening make a trip to Philly or Dallas. So you interview and one comes home with an offer, the other empty handed.
Never heard of a hire-o-rama "process" like this. Guessing it's just a Syneos thing.
Most if not all, pharma companies are :
Recruiter Phone screen> local face to face with one mgr>local face to face with maybe 2 managers>regional mgr...and you're done. Or even less.

Almost seems cruel to send candidates on a one day out and back trip, traveling with your competition. And the $ involved.
Oh well, Syneos does it their way. Is this the "syneos" way?, for those that have experienced this? Just seems odd.

No, this is not a syneos thing. This must be the contract company. Its quite extensive for a contract company.

Anyone know if Dallas would be a panel interview? How many times do you need to be asked same questions??
Maybe just one per territory?
And if not a go from Idorsia leadership then bring another candidate. Seems kind of cruel. But that’s how it goes.

I have been on 3 contracts since coming from direct big pharma. I like it! But the pay is usually a little lower than the manufacturer. It's also harder to negotiate on a contract because the client sets the pay and you can't deal with them directly. Syneos will usually tell you what the contract's pay range is. I am going after Idorsia also since my current contract ends soon. I was told 85k is the max, and usually they really mean it when they say the max.
My suggestion is that if you want higher pay, then go after other contracts that pay higher. But, in my experience, 85k is pretty good for contract. I normally see contracts pay lower in the 70's. Then sometimes they pay in the 90's, but it's more rare. It just depends on how long you want to hold out to find a contract that pays higher.
Just factor in that Sydney’s takes 30% off the top. So, if the owner rep makes 120K, figure on 90K for Syneos.

Told was going as well. I'd bet each of us will be competing with at least one more for the position. IE, they send top 2 candidates? Let them battle each other. One comes out swinging with an offer.
The unsuccessful one leaves Dallas with a parting gift...a nice set of new mixing bowls, just in time for the holidays.
Never seen anything like a cattle call hiring fest. Not in 12 years of pharma anyways. Guess I'll get my "moo" on. Sorry, had to do it. That doesn't make it better, I know. So sorry.

So apparently one of the managers in NorthEast was fired from his last gig for frequenting massage parlors. I googled him and then went to to his old companies thread to see if anything was there, and saw that information.

Trying to ask a legitimate question for those more familiar with contract roles, especially if you've worked for Syneos, quintiles, iqvia, etc.

So, after interviewing for a Idorsia position, and knowing what other pharma companies pay for "specialty" roles, seems like the base pay for this is so much less by tens of thousands vs other pharma companies. Just trying to learn here. Anyone know why?

Most true specialty jobs are offering in the 110's-130k for bases. Based on previous posts, read where recruiter stated 85k base? Isn't that on the low end of primary care positions?

Just thinking that they would offer much more than the 80's for a base.

They are paying 110K or so. Just giving 25K of your salary to the contract company. The reason? Because you are a rented mule for the purpose of selling the drug for anywhere from a month till the end of the so called " contract ". That way no benefits, no severance, no muss no fuss when its time to move on.
