Idorsia contract

First US expansion. Could be a good thing long term despite a "contract". If product does well, contract cld turn into a non contracted position with better $, benefits.

Never worked in contract sales before.

However, after being displaced after 15 + years from "big pharma" (which seems to be the new norm) , 85k is looking nice at this point. Is 85k base reasonable to expect in contract pharma?

I'm assuming a 6 figure starting base for Syneos/Iqvia, etc. is completely out of the question, despite experience/seniority one had with prior company.

Thanks

I have been on 3 contracts since coming from direct big pharma. I like it! But the pay is usually a little lower than the manufacturer. It's also harder to negotiate on a contract because the client sets the pay and you can't deal with them directly. Syneos will usually tell you what the contract's pay range is. I am going after Idorsia also since my current contract ends soon. I was told 85k is the max, and usually they really mean it when they say the max.
My suggestion is that if you want higher pay, then go after other contracts that pay higher. But, in my experience, 85k is pretty good for contract. I normally see contracts pay lower in the 70's. Then sometimes they pay in the 90's, but it's more rare. It just depends on how long you want to hold out to find a contract that pays higher.

Was told ideally 2 candidates per opening make a trip to Philly or Dallas. So you interview and one comes home with an offer, the other empty handed.
Never heard of a hire-o-rama "process" like this. Guessing it's just a Syneos thing.
Most if not all, pharma companies are :
Recruiter Phone screen> local face to face with one mgr>local face to face with maybe 2 managers>regional mgr...and you're done. Or even less.

Almost seems cruel to send candidates on a one day out and back trip, traveling with your competition. And the $ involved.
Oh well, Syneos does it their way. Is this the "syneos" way?, for those that have experienced this? Just seems odd.

That's how they siphon money from the client, by boosting costs involved that goes to the higher ups.

I have been on several contracts and the only time they had an out-of-state cattle call was for the big GSK contract. All the others were 1 to 2 interviews with the manager and their boss-- then done. Although, even the GSK contract just had one interview in Dallas and they let people know who got picked the following week. This one seems pretty drawn out with more steps than usual. Maybe due to the fact that they are hiring 500+ reps?
